April Updates
My Panda bear and I continue to grow strong every passing day. I find myself at some nights just remembering how she laughs and how we'd prowl the city for more three or four cheese pizzas. I'd see a dog and rather than immediately be scared, recall how she'd most likely excitedly squeal and rush to it. I'd be out drinking with friends and I'd remember how even just a glass of apple cider can get her tipsy. I miss her a lot. And I do hope someday soon, I'll be able to visit her again.
My gym sessions haven't been as religious as I wanted them to be, but I'd like to believe I've noticed some progress somewhat. I really must devote more time and commitment to it, however, since I am paying for it monthly. I want my guns!
Work remains work. It pays the bills. It meets the clients' expectations. It keeps the family afloat. So I guess its good, regardless of the cons it carries.
The bad luck wave nears its end. As of last night, which I thought was safe already, I got my lower lip busted in an accident (one of those me reaching down to pick something that fell to the ground as someone that moment got it and rose up to stand) followed by hand poking my eye and getting my jeans (again) doused with beer. So maybe tonight's romp with Alvin and the gang will fare better.
Lost has finally come back with an episode that truly stunned me to silence. The quote I once had as a status message in YM after watching Battlestar Galactica suddenly applies again. While there were some spotty moments, (parts which got me, "ay, exposition for the viewers yon!") there were solid scenes of pure wow. And yes, Ben is suddenly my favorite for the episode.
Still haven't gotten around to getting the Pentax camera fixed. Really miss using it. And strangely, haven't gotten the urge to crack out again my older camera (the one I used to constantly use). Oh well.
As always, we would love to have you all watch and join us at Fandom Live! Every Sundays, with no clear timeslot yet (we're still learning to meet a timeslot heheh). But yes, do watch our shows!
Okay, back to work for me. Gotta finish work before the gimmick tonight.
And here's to no more bad juju!

OLDER AND WISER (daw)
Hay.
Wanted a fresh change with this new "year" for me to go through and decided, sige, let's get a hair cut. So I headed to Il Centrol in BF Homes to ask my suki stylist Mai-mai to give me something short but still with a hint of style naman. Part of me was even tempted to go all the way and ask for a semi-kalbo mowhawk but then again, I don't think I have the head nor the angas look for that.
Lost is finally back (yay!) and I am struggling NOT to watch the episode since doing so would mean waiting another WHOLE WEEK before I see the next. Battlestar Galactica continues to make me screech with every episode of the final season. Pushing Daisies and The Office, on the other hand, are making me swoon and miss my Panda Bear even more.
Comic creation, or more specifically, Diliman, is once again on hold. Sorry. Part of me just really can't help but feel like... uh... I have to make sure it goes out perfectly. I know, I know, just finish it, eh?
The Pentax camera has yet to be fixed. Still trying to get the address of the shop in Binondo to have it repaired. And I have NOT gone to the gym for nearly a week now (whine!) so definitely bawi next week.
Anyway, just sharing. Thanks again to all those who greeted me and my Panda Bear. Back to work for me for now. Later, you all!

A FEW MAGICAL HOURS
As you who read my blog all know, it is currently my girlfriend and Panda Bear's birthday today. At the stroke of midnight, Philippine Time, a magical thing occurs. It becomes my birthday, April 25 Philippine Time, while it continues to be her birthday in Vancouver (9a.m. Canadian time) and it will continue to be a shared birthday for us for a few more hours.
I guess it is strange auspicious synergistic things like this that make the week of bad luck worth it.
Happy Birthday Panda Bear!
Your buttered boyfriend misses you!

Happy Birthday, Panda Bear Isha!
All the way in the other side of the planet, it doesn't hit the 24th of April til a few more hours from the time I post this, but since April 24th does hit Manila in less than an hour, I am taking this opportunity to post a Happy Birthday message to my Panda Bear Isha. While I won't reveal your age in this post (search old posts for that instead), I will reveal here that I remain steadfastly and absolutely in love with you. I remain the garapata moose whose body parts you have christened so many other pet names. I remain your Kuya Bodjie, your Dog Phobic sweetie, your boyband reject, your baliw, your number one fan na torete sa iyo, your sleeping buddy, your lunchmate, your wall climbing partner, your source of courage when scaling heights, your anti-sponge bob square pants, your private dancer, your kingdom hearts bad influence, your gaming guru, your bag of nips, your white cheese pizza addict, your food co-explorer, your tree climbing twin and most of all, your friend, your critic, your support system, your listening ear, your sounding board, your stress ball and your boyfriend.
Here's to more years to come love.
(Cause that means I get more years to keep you happy!)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY PANDA BEAR!
I LOVE YOU, ISHA!
Oh Look! Another Entry!
For the past thirty years (plus one come Friday) I have been afflicted with a strange series of unfortunate events on the week of my birthday. This week, it seems, hopes to best my worst week so far.For those who've been reading my blog, you're all aware of what stuff has been bogging me down lately. Guess what, tonight was a little bit more of the same.
A great friend of mine, Alvin, is in town for two weeks. He's based in San Francisco and back when I'd be in Los Angeles, he'd travel all the way to hang out with me. We were buddies back in De La Salle University and its nice to see we're still friends after all these years. To give him a little something different, Tom and I opted to bring him to Malate to hang out with other friends and catch a few lip-synch song acts (and if you are wondering what I mean, Priscilla Queen of the Desert should be a good clue) in hopes of catching him off-guard. Turns out, Alvin's the same old Alvin who "rides with the flow no matter what."
So there we were, enjoying our beers, dancing with a bunch of friends (and yes, I'd love to share the night with pictures... but well, as you know...)
Anyway, tonight's list of maladies:
1) Was 1 foot away from two friends who accidentally smashed a beer bottle.
2) Had another full bottle of San Mig Strong Ice knocked onto my lap, soaking me down to my boxers in the EARLY part of the gimmick.
3) My second beer bottle had a broken lip. It was accidentally caused by a friend who jokingly tapped it to make it overflow. He hit it too hard and broke the lip. So had to ditch it lest I risk drinking glass shards. I had barely started drinking from it.
4) On a food run at McDonalds after, another friend tipped over his Hot Chocolate. Yep, same leg. So what was once cold and beery became hot and chocolatey.
Panalo, diba?
To save the night, was able to chat with my Panda Bear. Yay!

My stupidity hath not ended
Dropped the Pentax digital camera my Pand Bear Isha got for me last night. It hit the ground, bounced off, flew around two feet, then hit the ground again. After the series of mood swings and bad days and nights, you'd think by now things would let up.
But nope, the camera fell, showed minimal damage on the outside, save for the fact the lens system remained extended. Normally, it folds into itself automatically when you turn the camera off.
Now, its stuck.
I switched it on, and it made some pathetic sounds, three beeps, then shut off. With the lens system still out. So I tried to fiddle around, look for any loose parts, or what not. Only discovered when I looked head on at the lens that it was no longer aligned with the whole thing. So looks like this will cost. Much.
Contacted the Pentax Digital service center via Sanly Corporation. Sanly claims they only handle non-digital, so they gave me the number that does handle digital. Its based in Binondo, and they claim "we only accept local warranties."
So fuck me. I just did another act of stupidity that's sure to cost me more cash.
Whoo-pee-doo.
Advanced Happy Birthday to me.

I WITH AM STUPID
MUST REALLY FIND MYSELF A SAMSUNG CELLPHONE CAR CHARGER. After yesterday's stupidity fiasco, with me accidentally leaving my cellphone charger at Fandom Cafe, and opting to get some rest instead at a friend's house rather than risk driving and falling asleep as I did before, it turns out I would end up still doing another act of stupidity with that being me falling asleep till 4:00p.m., with my cellphone dying out, and with my parents and my Panda Bear worrying over me being unreachable and missing for half the day.We were shooting an episode of Fandom Live! when I noticed my cellphone was on the verge of shutting down. So not wanting to make others worry if they try to reach me (yes, the irony) and wanting to be certain I had a means to contact people in case of an emergency, I grabbed my cellphone charger in the car and let the phone gather back some juice.
Unfortunately, when the show ended and I rushed off to meet up with some friends for a round of beer. In my haste, I forget to get the charger from the outlet and well...
My parents tried to reach me at around 9:00a.m. only to have my phone ring twice, then.. die. The battery probably gave up at that point. Only, my parents didn't think that and instead tried calling again.
And again.
And again.
And not reaching me, began to imagine all sorts of stories involving terrorists, kidnappings, cellphone snatching, hospitals, missing kidneys, and the like. (somehow, I hoped there was a magical creature or two or a U.F.O. in that list)
Still not being able to reach me, they then proceeded to try the numbers of friends of mine which they knew. Seth: no answer. Awie: no answer. And even tasked my sister to try helping out (I can only wonder if there was a radio shout out for me...)
Isha, my Panda Bear, got worried too as she tried to find ways to reach me. But alas, like my parents, no answer.
And me, stupid me, was still asleep through all this, and eventually woke up at around 5:00p.m., pondered and procrastinated about getting my charger "all the way in Cubao" and finally, realized in a stroke of rush hour traffic speed genius that I could simply borrow a friend's cellphone, switch his SIM card with mine, and make a few calls.
Yes. Tobie has lost the equivalent of 10 points of Intelligence (d20 rules), 4 dots of Intelligence (WOD rules), and practically anything else that has a semblance to common sense and intellect which isn't exactly common.
Oh well.
My sincere apologies to all who worried and were affected by this.
I blame my stupidity.

NOT A GOOD DAY
My apologies for those who had a great day. But for me, today isn't one.Nope.
I'll be better come midnight onwards. By then, after the horrendous events of todays stress, I'd be at San Juan to run a game of Exalted. Running roleplaying games is my secret destresser.
Til then. Gawd, this day had a really baaaaaaaaaaaad series of events. Of the good highlights I can state: A friend graduated today, Got to visit Emman and Apple and their kids for lunch, saw a lot of friends I missed in the Open Gaming Meet, got some compliments for my slow gym workout sessions actually bearing little fruit.
Better than none, I guess.

OGM COMING UP: PROSPECTS UNLIKELY
The Open Gaming Meet for this month is coming up this 19th of April. Sadly, a lot of other activities of friends, as well as other organizations were scheduled to transpire also on the said date. And as expected, most would rather hang out with friends than join strangers and try new games.
Nothing against them, of course. It was quite expected and normal. After all, the bonds of friendship are far more vital and cohesive than the links of acquaintances and fun gaming.
It does however make me a bit sad.
Since last month, I've been prepping for a roleplaying game based on one of my favorite sci-fi shows, Battlestar Galactica. Through Mark Humphries of Tabletopwars.com, I was able to get access to a copy of the BSG roleplaying game book published by Margaret Weis and have been making preparations for another demo roleplaying game for new time players, as well as fans of the show to try.
In the previous month when the game was supposed to be run, I decided to delay running the game to the next month in order to accomodate more fans of the show to play the key roles of Gaius Baltar, Admiral Adama, Lee Adama, Starbuck, Helo, and even Sharon. And late May, I was very excited to know most of the main roles were already "filled."
Now, however, it seems I'll be forced to run the game with most likely only two fans of the show (that being Me and Mark Humphries himself) since most of the gang will be celebrating birthdays and attending other events.
Sigh. I feel sad.
But that's really because I'm such a nut for roleplaying games. And I really thought this would be both a chance for my friends to try one, and even more, a chance for them to "play the roles of characters they love in the show" in a way more than just cosplaying as them.
Til next month, I guess.
There's always room for a Lost or Cloverfield or heck maybe even a The Office-inspired game.
(on a LOST-related note, been playing LOST: Via Domus, and I have to say, while I love how they really tried to capture the feel of the show both in score and in flow of plot, I really really really hate how the game feels so rushed. And the voice acting is horrible beyond belief. Some are close... but as the dialogue continues to flow, it just gets worse and worse. And nothing was more horrible than Charlie's first ever line.... "Moooooooounstaaahr". Anyway, if you get a chance to play it, just try to enjoy how it feels actually like a better way to insert a new character than the fiasco of Nikki and Paolo.)

Gimik Update: Drinking and Dancing at Malate
Met a lot of these people through Jeff and Tom, both of whom frequent the area a lot. With the 3 beers for 100 Php, its pretty easy on the pocket. Add really good dance beats ( such as Get Far's Shining Star and Hed Kandi's Rythme Fatal featuring Redd-Angel - Man In The Mirror Club Mix) and you got a fun party waiting to break out and destress too. Really makes me wish I could bring my Panda Bear Isha here to get her to groove to some tunes (although I know she doesn't like dancing and prefers to go wild at bands playing instead.)
Add to that the fun that I've been learning some basic sign language thanks to Jeff (green stripes) who interestingly is deaf yet LOVES to dance big time. Part of me was tempted to develop that into a comic/story, but maybe I should shelve it for now just out of respect.
On occasion, I still hit the gym. The pain is there, so I guess I am doing it right. Haven't noticed any significant growth that actually stayed on me yet, but there again, its barely a month so far so I guess I shouldn't be too impatient.
Started watching Pushing Daisies too, as per Jovan's recommendation. The show is beautiful. Heart candy and mush and witty and just... ah, it reminds me of the fun I had when Ally McBeal first came out, but with the magical impact of Big Fish.
Battlestar Galactica has started its final season and I will say it again, it really has learned to make the smallest details matter! I can't wait to see how they really plan to have the show end. My guess? The President is the final Cylon, and Earth is actually already inhabited by Cylons and Humans who are living together. Somehow, I sense Baltar will survive and watch the dying Admiral Adama tell him, "Make this right. It is all up to you know." And Six finally admitting to him she isn't a Cylon projection or madness, but a true voice from the One God.
Still waiting for Lost. Its taking so long.
And saving the best update for last and definitely not the least, me and my Panda Bear Isha finally hit 26 months this fifteenth of April. My golly. That's like the same number in years she is turning very soon. Happy monthsarey, Panda Bear! Missing you so much! The summers are getting warmer here, and I heard its been getting colder over there in Vancouver. Here's to us making climates meet and dissolving the distance between us.
I love you, Isha!

8 Things - me tagging my Panda Bear Isha, Alec, Urim and Miggyboy (4 lang, Alec and Urim count as 3 each, bwheheh!)
Then at the end you tag 8 other bloggers to keep the fun going.
– Each blogger must post these rules first.
– Each blogger starts with eight random facts/habits about themselves.
– Bloggers who are tagged need to write on their own blog about their eight things and post these rules.
– At the end of your blog, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names.
– Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged, and to read your blog.

1. I was once in competitive swimming. Was really good at it too. Even had a six-pack. Oh wait, I mentioned this already. Lemme get a story out then. In my last competition swim, it was down to three swimmers. On the last lap, I was on the lead for the Gold. But when I glanced back, the second placer was suddenly having cramps and sinking down. I turned back, grabbed him, and kept him aloft. The third placer swam past us, and won the Gold. Hay, that's life, eh?
2. I love dancing. It takes me a few beers to get started, and a really good tune to dance to. But yeah, I love going crazy dancing.
3. I am finding it hard to fill this up. I guess that's what happens when you usually live your life as an open book. Oh, I have the coolest family in the whole universe. No doubt about it.
4. I actually easily feel O.P. (out of place) but have learned to just ride the flow and socially chameleon myself into a scene. But yes, there were quite a few NWA events na O.P. ako, but I decided why make a fuss and just enjoy the company of those who didn't make me feel O.P.
5. I am not sure how to celebrate my birthday with my Panda Bear currently all the way across the sea. Actually tempted to just disappear for that day. Make it a private day or something. I dunno. I just really miss her so much.
6. I still pick up stray thoughts at times from others. Small scale telepathy. I blame my spirit questing days. So sorry to those who have fallen victim to me blurting out something not realizing "tinatamaan siya."
7. Hinding hindi ko kaya mag #2 sa CR na tissue lang. Hindi talaga, swear.
8. I don't like being forced to become a ninong. When I accept someone's invitation to become a godparent, its because I am choosing to accept the responsibility of being a tertiary parent to that child and willing to take the reins if the worst ever happens. I hate being asked to be ninong just for the sake of it.

GYM UPDATE: Or rather... really bad late update
Turned down 2 hang out sessions today with the NWA peeps. Haven't hit the gym well for almost a week too, darn it. And worst yet, haven't gone to the spa at all.
My Panda Bear, Isha, was worried that I'd lose my tummy, which she endearingly calls Gerald. (Yep, Gerald is my tummy. Which makes it odd when we meet people with the same name, like Gerald of Komikero hehehe). I told her its doubtful at the rate I'm working out. Not to mention, I'm really more after getting some chest and arms better than losing the tummy. Somehow, I feel the battle against the bulge will be futile, considering my father side's genes. And no, I didn't mean THAT bulge.
It isn't lack of Motivation. Hell, I'm dying to have a body worthy of walking around in beach shorts all summer. I'd love to have guns that are at least of greater girth than my neck, darn it.
It isn't lack of Time either. Cause there have been some days I've been waking up near noon, which is bad. I really should wake up earlier so I can hit Vigor before lunch and get some muscles ripping.
I guess its just me sticking to a darn schedule. Assuming I could control it, that is. One of the prices of a family business is having your parents as your bosses. And with that comes them setting up schedules for meetings and whatnots that you can't quite really control. Been having some impromptu and emergency meetings over the last few days, as well as some meetings seeing new clients and possible outsources that its taken what should have been work out time for me.
So anyway, just saying that's whats been going on my end of the world. Time to finish my banana and head for the gym while I can escape for an hour or two. After that, its back to the grind and hopefully have time to grab a beer with some friends tonight.
Or not.

Got myself a haircut...
My plans to eventually go semi-kal again are on the hold until I find myself a good electric clipper to own. My hair has a very strange tendency to grow back real fast, and based on my last experience with really short hair, be very uncooperative in keeping a short cropped style for long. If anyone out there has suggestions/recommendations where I can buy one, do tell.
Haven't been able to hang with the Fandom Cafe crowd much as of the late, and missed two major NWA-related parties already within the last few months. Work has just been rearing its demanding head and I've been doing my part in actually handling transcription work itself to help my people out.
But I guess I shouldn't complain. Work means money and money is good, I guess. We work to pay for our weekends, so to speak. Miss the late night FIC getaways. Or the wee hour Fandom Cafe hang outs. Heck, even the Guitar Hero nights.
Til then, I guess, I got my new do.

Gym Update: The paaaaaaain! The PAIN!
But yeah, its a good pain.
Scary to admit it, but I like feeling it. It tells me I'm getting slowly more fit. Or at least, less fat. Hehhe. Actually, the belly has not subsided at all. Although I can feel each individual ab struggling to kill the fat suffocating it. Cruch. Crunch. Crunch. Gotta keep them crunching.
A guy named Ryan entered the gym today with the exact physique I wanted. Asked Don, the trainer, if that was actually something possible for me and if so, how long. "Isang taon lang yan," he mused. "Dating 220 pounds yan. Talagang tinutukan. Kaya mo rin yan kung tutukan mo rin. Wala na munang mga gimmick gimmick! May inom pa yan sa lagay na yan."
I looked at Ryan and saw myself a few more months, years, maybe half a decade in the future.
There is hope.
For now, however, I shall be content with the pain.
-------
BSG is back today... which means in another day, it should be viewable here in Manila thanks to unspecified means. Whee!
I can't wait!

2nd Week: Gym Buddies
Oh well, at least we tried.
Last week, the pains kept me from partying (and straightening my arms fully) for a few days. Here's hoping this week, with the tips I've been getting from other friends like Zeki and Jan, both of whom sport bodies that could land them roles in a Justice League movie had they wanted to, I'm more excited this week to accomplish more and hope the "maga" that I get after actually slowly begins to become the norm.
Though my Panda Bear claims I'm "too thin and swollen," it doesn't mean I'm going to stop trying to get back that six-pack I used to have back in high school, and hopefully win some better guns in the process. I've been a poster boy for the hungry folk of the world back in college and that worked well back when I was still relishing in goth and emo idiosyncrasies. Now, however, I really want to bulk up a bit.
Para naman I can slowly cultivate a daddy look, diba?
