Today's WTF dream

Today's Strange Dream:

Me at Singapore with friends to perform in some kind of a function.  My dad is there too.  The friend mix is kinda strange, having old schoolmates like Roseann G, geek friends like Zuri and Zooey Deschanel.  At one point, while waiting to be allowed to perform, Urim shows up to tell us that they are requiring a full medical check up for all who are taking part.  Urim starts sharing these medical tablets (they look like hydration tablets, only there's around three inches wide in radius.  He tells us with a frown they're requiring "invasive anal exams" as part of the exam.  I cock my head towards him and jokingly reply, "We'll that's gonna be a problem for you straight people" and walk away.

I decide it would do me good to get a full shower so after the exam we can head off to prep for the performance.  I rush off looking for a good place to take a shower. It is at this point the location shifts to BF Homes Paranaque (walking down President's avenue, from Tropical Hut towards where Shakey's used to be) as I search for a shop selling shampoo and soap.  I notice this massive building on the left (which isn't here in BF but is the building in Singapore where Rocky and Mina and I located the gaming shop Paradigm Infinitum) and comment to myself how stupid I was not to see it before all those times I'm looking for toys.  Again the scene shifts, and this time I'm in Don Bosco Makati looking at the not-so-clean bathrooms and thinking, "No, there's a better place I can shower.  There was this bathroom no one uses..." and I hurry away through hallways until I emerge at De La Salle University and enter the SPS building where I used to meet my Malate Literary Folio friends. At the fifth floor, there's a clean bathroom (which now on hindsight, I recall never had a shower) where I then shower facing an open window.  I realize just before I start that I forgot to bring a towel and a change of clothes, but decide better I'm clean than not.

Quick shower.  Then I'm back in line at the medical exam.  The doctor finally receives me and he gives me one look and says, "Nice.  Okay you're done" and part of me  realizes he may have been giving anal exams only to the guys who didn't seem to look clean or good? I step out and seeing this jerk who keeps hitting on me at O bar Ortigas coming up next in line, I decide to evilly say out loud, "Wow, that doctor really used all FOUR fingers at the same time in the anal exam."

With the exam done, I find myself meeting up with my fellow performers and as we make our way to the performance hall, Zooey and I start coming up with an impromptu song.  I wish I could recall right now the whole song and the chords, but damn, it was cool singing with her in the dream.  Snippets of the song I could recall are:

Z: I believe in you
T: I believe in you
Z: And you know it's true
T: Yes I know it's true
Z: I believe that sometimes something happen when
you're starting to get up again
after a painful fall you had before.

T: I believe in you
Z: I believe you do
T: And I know it's true
Z: Because it's all so true
T: I believe we're always going to find a way
to rise up at the end of the day
and stop feeling we live on the floor.

Both:
Because when the going get's harder
The day seems to get tougher
The hurdles reach for the sky

Z: You'll be there to say
T: "I'm with you all the way"
Both: And if other's ask why...
Z: It's cause I believe...
T: I believe...
Z: I believe
T: in
Both: You.

So sappy, yes, but awesome, especially since we were literally just coming up with it as we sang (and gosh I so wish I could get the music down).  As we sang this song, we were walking out of the exam building, down Orchard Road, then turning a corner to what became the downhill slope of Santan street in Tahanan Village, then finally, into an old fort-like building you'd see in Intramuros which had these fun trap-like surprises for tourists who visit.  My dad kept asking us for the lyrics to the song we made up, because he kept telling us we could use it in our future performance (at this point, yes and only at this point, did I realize I was dreaming: my DAD is my director in theater?   Wait, that didn't make sense.  And yes, somehow everything else earlier did.)

Intramuros, from majadeen.blogspot.com

I start walking with Zooey ahead of us, and me, Roseann G and Zuri arm-in-arm, and my dad behind us, as we start singing the song "Anything Goes" mixed with "I'm the Bravest Individual" of Sweet Charity, complete with us doing the arm-swaying dance of Bravest Individual while we hop over puddles (oh and I should add at this point, Rosie was preggers in the dream.  Around six months worth.)  My dad's having some trouble navigating the stairs so we kinda slow down.  But then, I decide to sprint on up ahead of everyone else, and find Rocky waiting for me at the side entrance to the theater.  He gives me a kiss and tells me, "I can't wait to see it" and I smile and realize it is time to wake up.

Yeah, me and my dreams.
Crazy, ain't they?

SATURDAY STATUS QUO

Already missing the work out sessions I used to have.  Arms feeling much better, and legs and thighs still screaming from the work out two days ago and last night's dancing.  It is a Saturday though, which means its gaming night with the tropa.  Another round of Vampire the Requiem to continue the tales of "The Cainite Heresy".

(Sunday to Saturday, Jan 11-Jan 17):
Gym - 4 Bar - 4

Total Tally so far:
Jan 2-Jan 17:
Gym - 9
Bar - 7

Desperately need a trim too.  Hair getting quite unruly.  Especially consdering tomorrow I will be the godfather of Oliver's kid.  Pretty excited to be able to see Oliver and his family, considering the last time I saw them was back when he and his girl got married.

Still stunned over Final Crisis #6 which featured an incredible moment in DC comics history.  Of course, there are ways around it, but it was really truly a shock to see that litmus test of a dead character done with a visual homage to the iconic cover of Crisis in Infinite Earths #7.  I just hope that Morrison has more surprises in store for us.

Frustrated I can't get my copy of Silent Hill Homecoming to work.  Just about to finish PuzzleQuest and am purchasing a copy of Left 4 Dead to be able to play both with my friends and online.  Got also a copy of Prince of Persia but am still in the process of cleaning out my desktop computer, so I can't install it there yet.

Missing loads of people too.  Stan ain't back from the hills.  Don hasn't been showing up for any gimmicks.  Neither has Sonny been visible either.  Haven't been able to hit Fandom Cafe for Fandom Live (family stuff has been cropping up on Sundays).  Miss having them ice cream runs with Mika, Mara and Chiqui.  Haven't been able to toast with Jovan, Lynn, Beejay, and Hec.  Was unable to attend the recent Yale parties too.  Haven't worked on new film projects with Dek.  Or gamed with Benny, Adrian, Adam, Nabs, Victor and so many other people.  And of course, there's Isha whom I do miss and still hope to someday visit.  The supposed 2008 reunion of the old DLSU friends didn't push through.  The other mini reunion with my ABS-CBN former officemates hasn't either.

All in all, just shows how much I got to get my act together.  Grab a planner and start marking dates.   Heck, maybe even start considering having them too.  Hahahah!

Lastly, there's the new Watchmen site where you can catch the score and hear some of the character's speak their lines.   Something to tide us over til the movie is shown on March 6.  Enjoy folks! Its a weekend, after all!

Monday Motions

Hit the gym today.  Although the week officially began last night (Sunday), I kinda used Sunday up recovering from the all nighter game I had with Seth, Sam and Aldwin, then went to Church with my Mom and Yaya Bebie.  By the time that was over, I was prepping to hit Cubao and make my way to Fandom Live when I remembered that a friend had set a sched to have dinner with me.  So I informed Neek that I couldn't make it and texted my friend, whom to my knowledge was coming back from Tagaytay, to just text me once he was back.  Then I waited.

And waited.

At one point, I drove to my friend's house to save on time, then called him up to tell him I was outside.

He was at Cubao.  Pauwi pa lang.  Then asked, "Gigimik ka ba tonight?  Heading to O?"

I replied, "Uh, yeah, but sige I'll grab dinner na lang on my own.  I take it you forgot."

Turns out, he did.  He apologised naman, but still it was not too fun an experience.  Although it was early enough to catch up at Fandom Live, I was just in too rotten a mood to do the show and decided it was for the best I didn't try to catch up.   Was at O bar from 10:30p.m. (I was the ONLY person there) and had my fill of San Mig Light for the night, before deciding I had enough and made my escape to head home and sleep.

Monday, I decided, should be more fun.

Thankfully, I woke up in time for my lunch with Bambi and Lolit, old close friends of mine who were my blockmates back in college (that's what..fifteen years ago?)  The lunch was fantastic, with us sharing stories of what our lives are now inspired by, what directions we are taking, as well as all the funny recollections of how things used to be when we were young.  Sayang, wala yung ibang friends namin but we made a promise to have another mini reunion soon.

And finally, decided I did not want to waste the day and not hit the gym.  Since I did go drinking the night before, I had to balance the scales.

(Sunday to Saturday, Jan 11-Jan 17):
Gym - 1 Bar - 1

So far the battle between the two is even.  Did some sweaty cardio work, then hit the floor to do my 120 crunches, 120 leg lifts and 200 side bends.  Then it was a work-out for my back, shoulders and some biceps.  Feel sore and happy all over, but I know tomorrow this is going to be a major ouch.  Was supposed to be hitting the spa with Eman tomorrow, but it turns out he's cancelling it cause he's spending time with his dad on a trip to Cebu.

Feels real good to see the gym give these results, even if they're temporary and not long term yet.  Feels real good to be working out the stress and straining on the weight.  Feels alive.  Feels empowering.

And it reminds me, if I put my mind to it, I can accomplish what I want.

Just remember it takes one step at a time.

(Yes, camwhoring pictures uploaded today.  Actually decided to post them and similar shots more frequently to "monitor" my development.  Kinda realized I'd love to look back at them years from now and either say, "That's the time I decided I can look great," or "That's the time I tried to look better but frigged it up."  Enjoy na lang!  Nakikisilip ka lang naman, eh!)

Lunch with Bambi and Lolit

Was so tempted to call this album something more.. interesting, but fearing for my own life this early into 2009 is something I rather not have. :-P Had a delicious lunch with Bambi and Lolit, two blockmates of mine back during our De La Salle University days! We ate at Fish and Company at Greenbelt 3 and afterwards had some juices at Fuzion. Alas, by then my camera had run out of juice and the two gals were giddily demanding I open my laptop to show my "Sexiest Greenie poll" pictures.

Wasn't able to take pictures of the food because we just loved eating them too much to stop. Had the Soft Shell Crab Salad, some pasta with tahong, the best Fish and Chips and an order of Calamares. Made sure to order a second "the best Fish and Chips" to go for my parents.

Here's hoping we make it a habit to have these mini reunions.

THAT TIME OF THE YEAR AGAIN

Every Christmas, my family and my dad's classmates of DSLS host a Christmas party for the scholars we have been financing through high school at La Salle Lipa.  Last year, a number of you were kind enough to help out and many others wanted to but just admitted they heard about it too late to help.

So here's the early call then:

We currently have one batch of successful graduates!

And we have around 30 new students (a number of them for each batch of High school) who would need our help!

So to all of you out there, if you want to help out in making Christmas again special for these kids, do let me know.

It doesn't take much.  Either just add to the cash fund which I promise to use to purchase stuff for the kids and their families (last year, we were able to ensure each of them had Spaghetti for Noche Buena, among other things) or simply plan out a donation of ANYTHING for up to 30 individuals.  And yes, I will say now it will be far easier for you to simply donate.

30 notebooks?
30 planners?
30 cans of corned beef?
30 pouches of juice?

I'm excited hoping to hear from the first batch of graduates too.  Will let you know when I get more information.

Thanks people!
