Bad Wolf

Is it just me or me updating, "Plans cancelled" seems to be my norm as of the late?

While things are still far from the ideal, and still better than yesterday, admittedly I find myself currently in a low swing on the state of affairs.  Grindr, Growlr, and all those other networks have started to bore me.  I admit there was some fun to receiving woofs and flattering statements at first, but who am I kidding: none of them will ever compare to Rocky.   I made a few good friends, had some fun times, and maybe in some cases met people whom I would probably entertained more had I never met Rocky, but the fact remains: My heart knows who deserves it, and that has not changed a single bit.

But yeah, I think I'm nearly at the limits of my patience for being on these networks.  It wasn't as if I did not know there were lots of bag eggs out there.  But to give them an avenue to throw me a message, then call me  names when my opinions disagree with theirs is quite frankly now starting to feel like a bad idea.  And hey, I am aware that complaining about this is as much as pointless as complaining about hearing Oppa Gangnam Style playing over and over, when the truth is you're the very person who set the music player to have that song on repeat.

There's only one way out of it, right?
Change it yourself.

Or shut the damn thing up and focus on what you want.

Gaming, from what I gather, may be in another slump.  My Adventure-Aberrant-Aeon Trinity game might meet an undesired cancellation, so to speak.  I will always find it strange when someone gets all jealous and insecure over having their significant other hang out and play with his friends once every week (or at times, once a month even!) but I know I should just try to understand and accept whatever they decide.  I will never comprehend why there are couples that exist which aren't celebrating each other's interests.  Or giving each other room to celebrate their own thing.  I once was in a relationship where my passion for gaming was stifled.  And to some extent, I even dropped it for a while to make it work.  But in the end, I found myself just resenting the fact I was seemingly being made to sacrifice my passion instead of being invited to share it.

I just feel its wrong when one part of the relationship thinks it will only work if only one side sacrifices something.  Couples make a promise to work things out together, right?

Work is okay.  Great in many ways, but scary in others.  While one job is overwhelmingly active with lots of workload, the other is frighteningly having man power issues.  And I find myself caught in the middle.   It is a delicate balancing act to work on starting tomorrow, I admit.  But hey, at least I have jobs.

My wisdom tooth is starting to get really painful.  Which in some ways seems to be perfectly timed to my desire to stop entertaining the networks.  When I had my first wisdom tooth removed many years back, I was bed-ridden for three days.  The tooth was latched onto the jaw bone, and the dentist had to shatter the connection with a painful twist.  This second one, the dentist warned me, was more complicated and was best to be dealt with at a later date.  I guess that "later date" has come and I can only wonder how long I'll be stuck recovering this time.    But I know I want this fixed before November comes along.  Rocky and I have gotten tickets to fly to Singapore to watch Jersey Boys.  I don't wanna miss that due to a medical issue.

And yes, I think it is time to bring my smoking to another attempted closure.  Tonight will be the last time I buy a pack for the duration of this attempt.  Here's hoping this time, I'll succeed and saying goodbye to nicotine for a few years (if not for the rest of my life.)  I'm expecting it will be an emotional rollercoaster to get through the cravings and stress-smoking desires, but hey, with things already topsy-turvy on some days, I might as well weather through them all in one go, right?

Bad Wolf.

I see Bad Wolf all around me.
And if you watch Dr. Who then you know what it really means.

So yeah,  Bad Wolf.
I still believe I got time on my side.

[Sweetie] and [Muse] update!

[Sweetie] and [Muse] update!

Due to issues with Youtube itself, the rules on how the winner shall be chosen have been changed.  A webpage shall be put up showing all the existing finalist entries.  Views are NO LONGER the key factor in determining who will win in the event.

Instead, a second page shall soon be online where one can vote for their favorite film.

This early, I want you all to know that I am very grateful for the support and passion you have all showed in helping my film get noticed by more and more people.  Once the webpage is up, I promise to inform you all as soon as possible what it is so that you can all vote for both [Sweetie] and [Muse].

Thank you so much for everything.
I can only promise that win or lose, this will not be the last of short film work you've seen from me.

How do you eat an elephant?

It is a busy day today and I am here all the way back in Paranaque for work.  I still help manage and maintain quality assurance at my parents' medical transcription business and I've pretty much committed for the meantime to be here thrice a week to do some work.  While many people would freak at the idea of traveling from Cubao to Paranaque every other day for work, you have to realize you are talking to someone who used to travel from Paranaque to Quezon City daily for three years when he worked at ABS-CBN International.

Even with the typical healthy workload we get for the business, I was able to find time to hit a few of the targetted errands I had in mind for the day.  I was able to make a duplicate of the key to the condo for the landlord, prep the post dated checks for the parking fees, find 5A fuses for the water purifier and purchase a new AVR.  I was also able to prep the 2 broken AVRs for repairs, found watch straps for my Egg (just have to find out which one to get) and successfully download another one of the retro adventure games that Egg really misses and loves.

I wasn't able to get my DVDs back from Andy however.  Yesterday he was online and chatting with his mom, when I chanced upon him and asked if I could pass by his parent's place for my stuff.  I was told to drop by at 2p.m.  Unfortunately, I've passed by twice today (once at 2p.m. and another attempt at 4p.m.) both to find no one answering the door.  I called around six times and end up getting the answering machine, which supposedly records my message, but then just cuts off into a busy tone.   I have no idea what happened.

I was able to contact another friend though who has some DVDs of mine and set a chance to meet up on Thursday to get my Season One of LOST back.

Then, there's the possible spa trip.  One of my bestfriends, Emman, contacted me today asking if we could hit the spa to destress.  Sadly, with all the errands to do today, I had to ask him to reschedule it to tomorrow instead.  But I do feel the need to get myself simmering in hot water and beaten into a relaxed pulp.  It is only a pity Rocky most likely can't come join us due to work.

But if anything, there's always things to look forward to.   Apple and Emman are inviting me and Rocky to hit the beach house sometime in July again, and that's always a great thing.  Getting away from the hustle and toxic energies of the city is definitely something we'd relish, and the fact that this time it would really be a vacation just adds more to the reasons to be happy.  Who knows, Rocky might even be happy enough to dare riding the donut!

I just hope the Beach outing doesn't coincide with any upcoming Malate events that we really are looking forward to being part of.

So many things to still do.  We need shelves for our books.  We need to reorganize the comics, the dvds (something which Rocky has already done to a large extent!), the gaming books,  we need to install our curtains, eventually get a proper place for clothes to hang, a better bed, we need to get more chairs, maybe invest on an eventual couch if not wooden benches, and definitely the gas range, the stove, and a bigger refrigerator.  And at the same time, juggle work, personal time, geek exploits, groceries, errands, other expenses and responsibilities and budget.

Ultimately, more or less the same number of things anyone would have to do after having recently moved.

So how does one eat an elephant this huge?
How else?

One bite at a time. :-)

I'm Home.

I'm currently back at Paranaque today for work and I just wanted to steal some time to post that today is Wheelie Day once again!

HAPPY WHEELIE DAY!

Having finally moved out to Cubao, going here to Paranaque to work on the family business feels different now.  While for a long time, I've found myself content to call my parents' place "home,"  things feel very different now with the existence of Sietch Creare.  This is not to say that my parents' place was never home.  Rather, it is to say that yes after such a long time, I've finally found a place which I really truly feel is my place to return home to after a long day of work.

I've always had problems with "leaving home" before.

Having travelled a lot in my life thanks to the love and generosity of my parents, I have been able to go as far as Canada, Los Angeles, New York, Boston, San Francisco, Texas, Hongkong... and yet in many ways I never felt like I found a place in those countries which gave me the comfort and tangiable feeling of sanctuary that Sietch Creare gives me.  In many ways, I felt like I was merely visiting those places, and the rooms or beds I stayed in were just temporary locations I was to rest in.  Sietch Creare, on the other hand, brings a comforting sense of stability and groundedness (if there is such a word) which is ironic considering the condo is at the fourteenth floor of the tower.

While some might say that has more to do with the fact I have my stuff with me, there was a point in time when I moved out and shared a flat with a friend of mine.  The place was in San Juan and like today, I had my geek stuff, my gaming books, my movies, my computer, my bed, my clothes... I had all the things and personal belongings that help define me and bear sentimental value to me - and yet the place was not exactly home.  It felt... liberating, yes, and in many ways it felt like I had my own place.   But it didn't feel like home.

There was a temporal sense of it being "for the time being."

Sietch Creare feels like home.
And I know, it is just a condo.  It is a rented flat.
It isn't a house I own.

But right now, it feels like a place I wouldn't mind living in for the rest of my life.

Brainstorming at Fuzion Cafe

Rocky and I met up with James, Diego and Joel at Fuzion for a meeting regarding top secret project named Project: Egg. Showed the guys some really cool games and shared concepts to develop in the future.

Later, moved outside to continue the meeting with mystery man Mars (who isn't in the pictures due to his high secretive status! joke!) and finalized plans better. Here's hoping our project goes well! The power of Egg is upon it! It should! Wheee!!!

OH MY GUL:AY

The time is now 5:30pm and I am still toiling away at work.  Haven't slept since around 4:00pm yesterday and I still got some errands to run before I can escape away to attend Lynn's costumed birthday bash, which is really worrying me because I might either fall asleep after work only to awaken hours later with the party already over OR I do show up at the party, then promptly lie down and sleep.

And I still don't HAVE a costume.

Although I have FIGHT! ready as per Lynn's request, I was not able to borrow the outfit I wore in the Tom Birthday Bash performance last Feb 25.  Nor have I hit the gym recently so coming in blue body paint and a black thong as Dr. Manhattan ain't gonna cut it either.

Crap crap crap... I hate this.  I hate not being able to have fun with my friends and go all the way in making it fun.

But I guess one just has to focus on the small joys and tiny miracles in life.  Going to drag Rocky with me to the party and get him to finally meet more NWA people face-to-face again.  Like me, he's been absent in many geek-foolery and its about time he started being present again.  Highly considering escaping to the gym to at least puff myself up a tad and try to claim I'm Johnny Bravo or something, but that's very unlikely given my state of strength and remaining stamina.  But still, at least my paunch hasn't returned with a vengeance.   And lastly, business, while overwhelming, is very very good.  One cannot really complain if the business makes money.

But there you go.  Here's hoping I can Extra Joss myself up some energy to have a wild party with the geekfolks tonight.  Happy Birthday to you, Lynn!  Aminin mo na kasi, sister, mahilig ka na rin sa mga fag hag anthems!   I distinctly recall sending you some!

Tuesday Toiling

Was supposed to go camwhoring today, with my gym regimen nicely hitting my arms and shoulders, but found myself just not in the mood to go embarrass myself with more exposed skin.

(Or is this what you can nambibitin sa mga nasasanay na fans.)

Seriously though, just suddenly felt less enthusiastic today to go galavanting in front of the camera when I learned I still had a load of work to go through tonight.  I know I know, we work so we can party... but darn it, work can really get you down, eh?

Am excited for other things though, such as the upcoming digital film "9"

Supposedly to be released on 9.9.09, Tim Burton joins creative forces with the director of Wanted and Nightwatch, Timur Bekmambetov to produce wunderkind director Shane Acker's distinctively original and thrilling tale., 9.  The movie stars Elijah Wood, John C. Reilly, Jennifer Connelly, Martin Landau, Christopher Plummer and Crispin Glover and features the music of Danny Elfman.

When 9 (The Lord of the Ring's Elijah Wood) first comes to life, he finds himself in a post-apocalyptic world. All humans are gone, and it is only by chance that he discovers a small community of others like him taking refuge from fearsome machines that roam the earth intent on their extinction. Despite being the neophyte of the group, 9 convinces the others that hiding will do them no good. They must take the offensive if they are to survive, and they must discover why the machines want to destroy them in the first place. As they'll soon come to learn, the very future of civilization may depend on them.

The movie reminds me of Little Big Planet and the two major creative minds helming the production really has me excited for this movie.

Other than is, is the fact that in less than two weeks...
