We found a pair of dragons today.

We found a pair of dragons today.

Rocky and I were going around SM Cubao, scoping out any new Transformers and any possible Halloween decor when we found this pair of stuffed toys nestled among dogs, pigs, cats, and other natural critters.

Dragons.

Who would have thought one would find stuffed toys based on such noble, powerful, mystical and dangerous creatures here in a department store toy section? But there these two were, quietly in their dark little corner of a shelf, hoping to be discovered like the horde of treasure they quietly amass in secret.

The Food Album

For quite some time, I've spent my days indulging in food and relishing flavors. Food, in all its many forms and varieties to try, has always been one of my biggest indulgences. Even when I was religiously hitting the gym or seriously watching my weight, I would have days when I would treat myself to a Godzilla from Icebergs or a Mongolian Barbecue eat out (and fill myself with around 3 bowls of food).

Ever since I moved to Cubao to share a flat with Rocky, we've both committed ourselves to learning to cook. From what started out as an adventure with rice cookers, Rocky and I have been steadily getting more and more into cooking.

While the album might not be complete, it is definitely a nice compilation of what we've been able to make so far. While Rocky and I at times makes mistakes at times in our cooking, we definitely relish the freedom we are given to explore recipes and see what we can come up with. Here's an album documenting what we've been making so far!

Spring Awakening: Touch Me

Melchior:
Where I go, when i go there,
No more memory anymore-
Only men on distant ships,
The women with them, swimming with them, to shore...

Moritz:
Where I go, when I go there,
No more whispering anymore-
Only hymns upon your lips;
A mystic wisdom, rising with them, to shore...

Ernst:
Touch me-just like that.
And that-oh, yeah-now, that's heaven.
Now, that I like.
God that's so nice.
Now lower down, where the figs lie...

Moritz: (Spoken)
Still, you must admit, with the two anatomies, it truly is daunting.
I mean how everything might..

Melchior: (Spoken)
Measure up?

Moritz: (Spoken)
Not that I'm saying I wouldn't...I wouldn't want to not...would ever not want to...

Melchior: (Spoken)
Moritz?

Moritz: (Spoken)
I have to go.

Melchior: (Spoken)
Moritz, wait.

Otto:
Where I go when I go there,
No more shadows anymore-
Only men with golden fins;
The rythm in them, rocking with them, to shore...

Georg:
Where I go when I go there,
no more weeping anymore.
Only in and out your lips;
the broken wishes, washing with them, to shore.

All:
Touch me-all silent.
Tell me-please-all is forgiven.
Consume my wine.
Consume my mind.
I'll tell you how, how the winds sigh...

Touch me-just try it.
Now there-that's it-God that's heavan.
Touch me.
I'll love your light.
I'll love you right...
We'll wander down, where the sins lie...

Touch me-just like that.
Now lower down, where the sins lie...

Love me-just for bit...
We'll wander down, where the winds sigh...
Where the winds sigh...
Where the winds sigh...

The B!tch of Living

MORITZ
God, I dreamed there was an angel
Who could hear me through the wall
As I cried out, like, in Latin “This is so not life at all
Help me out, out of this nightmare.”
Then I heard her silver call
She said, “Just give it time, kid. I come to one and all.”

She said, “Give me that hand, please, and the itch you can’t control.
Let me teach you how to handle all the sadness in your soul.
Oh, we’ll work that silver magic,
Then we’ll aim it all the wall.”
She said, “Love may make you blind, kid, but I wouldn’t mind at all.”

ALL
It’s the bitch of living

OTTO
The bitch, just the bitch

ALL
With nothing but your hand

OTTO
Just the bitch, yeah

ALL
Just the bitch of living
As someone you can’t stand

GEORG
See, each night it’s, like, fantastic
Tossing, turning without rest
‘Cause my days at the piano
With my teacher and her breasts
And the music’s, like, the one thing
I can’t even get at all
And those breasts!
I mean, God, please, just let those apples fall

ALL
It’s the bitch of living

OTTO
The bitch!

ALL
With nothing going on, nothing going on
Just the bitch of living
Asking: What went wrong?
Do they think we want this?
Oh, who knows!

ERNST
See, there’s showering in gym class

HANSCHEN
Bobby Maler, he’s the best
Look so nasty in those khakis

ERNST
God, my whole life’s like some test

OTTO
Then there’s Marianna Wheelan
As if she’d return my call

HANSCHEN
It’s like, just kiss some ass, man
Then you can screw ‘em all

MELCHIOR
It’s the bitch of living
And living in your head
It’s the bitch of living
And sensing God is dead

ALL
It’s the bitch of living
And trying to get ahead
It’s the bitch of living
Just getting out of bed
It’s the bitch of living
And getting what you get
It’s the bitch of living

MELCHIOR
And knowing this is it

ALL
God, is this it?
This can’t be it
Oh God, what a bitch!

Warning: Explicit lyrics - I LOVE YOU LILY ALLEN!

Fuck You Very Much
by Lily Allen

Look inside,
Look inside your tiny mind
Now look a bit harder
Cause we're so uninspired,
So sick and tired,
Of all the hatred you harbour

So you say,
It's not okay to be gay
Well I think you're just evil
Your just some racist,
Who can't tie my laces
Your point of view is medieval

Fuck you,
Fuck you very very much
Cause we hate what you do,
And we hate your whole crew
So please don't stay in touch

Fuck you,
Fuck you very very much
Cause your words dont translate,
And its getting quite late
So please don't stay in touch

Do you get,
Do you get a little kick
Out of being slow minded?
You want to be like your father,
It's approval you're after
Well that's not how you find it

Do you,
Do you really enjoy
living a life that's so hateful?
Cause theres a hole where your soul should be
And you're losing control of it
And it's really distasteful

Fuck you,
Fuck you very very much
Cause we hate what you do,
And we hate your whole crew
So please don't stay in touch

Fuck you,
Fuck you very very much
Cause your words don't translate,
And it's getting quite late
So please don't stay in touch

Look inside,
Look inside your tiny mind
Now look a bit harder
Cause we're so uninspired
So sick and tired
Of all the hatred you harbour

Fuck you,
Fuck you very very much
Cause we hate what you do,
And we hate your whole crew
So please don't stay in touch

Fuck you,
Fuck you very very much
Cause your words don't translate,
And its getting quite late
So please don't stay in touch

Sorry if the lyrics caught you off guard.  But I just LOVE LOVE LOVE this happy-angry song!  Check it out!   Its in her album called "It's not Me, It's You"

Let The Right One In (aka Låt den rätte komma in or Let Me In)

Rating:★★★★★
Category:Movies
Genre: Foreign
If anyone out there were to ask me what movie to watch to get a feel for a perfect World of Darkness game, or if anyone wanted me to recommend a vampire film which truly explores new ground, this foreign film based on the 2004 vampire fiction novel by Swedish writer John Ajvide Lindqvist would definitely be the film I would cite.

Let The Right One In is a movie unlike any I have ever seen before. Brooding, dark, poetic, disturbing, touching, thought-provoking and yet fascinating, this film stands apart in the deluge of Underworld/Twilight (aka Too much Action, or Too much Drama) vampire tales that have been appearing in both film and on printed media. Centering on the awkward friendship forming between a 12-year old boy Oskar and a child named Eli who may or may not exactly be human, the story is a winding snow-covered path through a dark fairytale of poetic viciousness and ravenous human nature. Perfectly cast, beautifully shot, concisely scripted and then given just enough a dash of special effects to retain its modern nightmarish feel, this film had me holding my breath, staring in muted tension and sighing in uneasy happiness as the tale unfolded in its almost two-hour length. (I had opted to watch this over lunch, having the unfortunate scenario of having to stay up since yesterday... but I tell you, in no point did the film feel too slow, dragging, or overly focused on unnecessary plot threads.)

The title was taken from the Morrissey song "Let the Right One Slip In" (one can find this in their Viva Hate special edition album) as well as from the vampiric lore of vampires being incapable of entering another's abode without being invited first. The movie beautifully bares its own adaptation of vampire lore and carefully reveals it aspect by aspect in each passing scene. A gamer using the Vampire: The Requiem system can very easily design a Bloodline after watching this film. You will also find yourself fascinated by director Tomas Alfredson's attention to little cues on color, sound and detail. In fact, after seeing this film, you will realise how this small list of items suddenly invokes great images to recall:
1.) Rubik's cube
2.) Morse code
3.) Acid
4.) Window blinds
5.) Underwater swimming pool shots

Sadly, with this film already being so beautifully done, an American remake is supposedly in the works. Somehow, American distributors still find it difficult to believe that a Swedish language foreign film of this caliber would be hard for their audiences to understand. Then again, even the English release of the book was renamed to "Let Me In" because the publishers felt the original title was too long.

How sad.

Catch the original before the remake distracts you with its really shoddy version! (cases in point? Ringu vs The Ring, 엽기적인 그녀; literally, That Bizarre Girl versus the American remake, My Sassy Girl)

Chevy Mailbu TV ad ('Her Morning Elegance' by Oren Lavie)

The "Her Morning Elegance" video is really good. And since others have already posted it, I decided to post this one. Same song, same director, but for an advertisement.

Really good one too.

SATURDAY STATUS QUO

Already missing the work out sessions I used to have.  Arms feeling much better, and legs and thighs still screaming from the work out two days ago and last night's dancing.  It is a Saturday though, which means its gaming night with the tropa.  Another round of Vampire the Requiem to continue the tales of "The Cainite Heresy".

(Sunday to Saturday, Jan 11-Jan 17):
Gym - 4 Bar - 4

Total Tally so far:
Jan 2-Jan 17:
Gym - 9
Bar - 7

Desperately need a trim too.  Hair getting quite unruly.  Especially consdering tomorrow I will be the godfather of Oliver's kid.  Pretty excited to be able to see Oliver and his family, considering the last time I saw them was back when he and his girl got married.

Still stunned over Final Crisis #6 which featured an incredible moment in DC comics history.  Of course, there are ways around it, but it was really truly a shock to see that litmus test of a dead character done with a visual homage to the iconic cover of Crisis in Infinite Earths #7.  I just hope that Morrison has more surprises in store for us.

Frustrated I can't get my copy of Silent Hill Homecoming to work.  Just about to finish PuzzleQuest and am purchasing a copy of Left 4 Dead to be able to play both with my friends and online.  Got also a copy of Prince of Persia but am still in the process of cleaning out my desktop computer, so I can't install it there yet.

Missing loads of people too.  Stan ain't back from the hills.  Don hasn't been showing up for any gimmicks.  Neither has Sonny been visible either.  Haven't been able to hit Fandom Cafe for Fandom Live (family stuff has been cropping up on Sundays).  Miss having them ice cream runs with Mika, Mara and Chiqui.  Haven't been able to toast with Jovan, Lynn, Beejay, and Hec.  Was unable to attend the recent Yale parties too.  Haven't worked on new film projects with Dek.  Or gamed with Benny, Adrian, Adam, Nabs, Victor and so many other people.  And of course, there's Isha whom I do miss and still hope to someday visit.  The supposed 2008 reunion of the old DLSU friends didn't push through.  The other mini reunion with my ABS-CBN former officemates hasn't either.

All in all, just shows how much I got to get my act together.  Grab a planner and start marking dates.   Heck, maybe even start considering having them too.  Hahahah!

Lastly, there's the new Watchmen site where you can catch the score and hear some of the character's speak their lines.   Something to tide us over til the movie is shown on March 6.  Enjoy folks! Its a weekend, after all!
