SPANKING THE GREEN MONKEY

Was able to catch Emman at Makati yesterday. (See, I do get to go out of the house sometimes) and chatted on the upcoming trip to Vancouver. Shared thoughts on where I could stay, and what places to check out once I get there.

Catch him on the latest issue of Computer World where he has two articles and a fold-out centerfold! Bwahahah!

He got the green monkey from Dads or one of those restaurants that give away stuffed toys to those who have dinner there. "For my little monkeys," he remarked, referring to his wonderful kids.

I was tempted to drop by their place and check how Apple and the kids were doing, but I guess the guy is just a really busy guy. Juggling what seems like three or four things all of urgent-important status, I am happy my life is far simpler than his.

Still, glad to be able to find some time to hang again!

TAGGED BY MY SWEETIE

* Each blogger must post these rules first.
* Each blogger starts with eight random facts/habits about themselves.
* Bloggers that are tagged need to write on their own blog about their eight things and post these rules.
* At the end of your blog, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names.

tagged by : My Panda Bear Isha

1.) The only thing matching my fear of Dogs is my fear of being immersed in water, especially dark water. I actually can't close my eyes too long while showering or bathing. Just get scared something in the water is out to get me.

2.) Major pet peeve: people who ask me a question only to rebut my answer. I guess part of me thinks, "Kung magtatanong ka.. gusto mong pagisipan sagot ko..."

3.) Patricia Raine Mallare Pimentel is a keeper. She keeps me sane yet makes me go crazy. She is my anchor and yet is also the wind that carries me up. She makes me proud of who I am and at the same time inspires me to become a better person. I love you, Isha!

4.) I promised myself a list of things to do before I die. Among them: Go skydiving, get a tattoo, feed sharks by hand and win an Oscar for my parents.

5.) I love telling stories. I love crafting tales. I love narrating them to an audience that appreciates them. And because of that, my biggest loves as far as hobbies go are Film making and Roleplaying games.

6.) I still believe in the Filipino. And I am still proud to be Filipino.

7.) I am a spiritual person. Not necessarily religious. But definitely spiritual. My Faith in the Lord is unquestionable. My belief in a greater power than man is without doubt.

8.) I know I would die for the people I love.

All those who check my blog out.
As few as you are.

Its a 150++ voice file day, so to take a breather...
Was able to catch some movies with my friends and family within the last two weeks. Just saw the following movies.

Definitely a fun ride! Got the Soundtrack too cause the songs are really fun and catchy. Found the ending a tad too "happy and perfect" but still, its a fun fun movie! And yes, John Travolta should stick to movies like this rather than bombs like that scientology sci-fi movie he made.

Funny and made me cry at the end. Sadly doomed to bomb since:
Religious people will find it sacrilegious.
Non-religious people will find it preachy.

So there.
Definitely better than Jim Carrey, that I can say though.

And yes, Acts of Random Kindness was a good touch.

I have never seen any of the Bourne movies, so when I went to see this with my parents, I was worried I'd be lost and bored all-throughout. Thankfully, though there was no clear catch up of the plot for new viewers, the director wonderfully made the shots viscerally engaging enough to still enjoy the ride.

And yes, now am looking for the first two Bourne movies to see them on DVD.

Sadly, however, not all is good on movieland. Some things are down-right horrible and others are over-promisingly disappointing. Since I rather not say bad things out loud as of the late, I'll just say some local movies could have been much more but still sadly stayed so damn safe in their formula approaches.

Also...

Its strange that this movie is coming up. I thought Jet Li decided to stop making movies after making Fearless? What happened to his Buddhist calling?

And why on earth is this being called ROGUE ASSASSINS in local advertising? The hell?

On the lighter side, here's something I am definitely DEFINITELY looking forward to.
The premise is just wonderfully disturbing. The cast makes me smile.

I AM GETTING FATTER
I really have to find a way to get to Vancouver soon. Very soon. Each passing month, I've noticed my pants get tighter and my jeans get harder to close. I think not going out as I used to, not spending time with my Panda bear touring Intramuros or Divisoria or going mall-hopping or exploring other places in Manila is making me simply pack the pounds. I don't really go out to restaurants or pig out, but the lack of activity is adding to my waistline.

:-(

Time to hit the gym again.
Time to go swimming more often.

Don't want to get to my sweetie and look like a Stay Puffed Marshmallow Man.

STORMY WEATHER... BUT THAT AIN'T GETTING ME DOWN...
Just got a mountain of work to edit, a few designs to make, a few commercial concepts to sell and a music video to look out for. The road to Vancouver is getting shorter and the stormy weather is doing its darnest to make work harder for me.

But hey, I'm not letting it get me down.

I got a Panda Bear waiting for me and a beautiful future ahead.

JUST ANOTHER DAY OF WORK
Woke up today at 6:30pm, which used to be a normal thing for me back when I was handling the business all alone. Arm fell asleep with Nameless here having slept on top of it. Kid takes after his mom. :-)

Got loads to edit today, which means good things for the family business of course. All of this contributes to finding my way back to my sweetie's arms in Vancouver, so here's hoping for the best.

HAPPY EIGHTEEN MONTHS LOVE!
Wow. A year and a half. Who would have thought, eh?
Distance is no object love. I'll be there to see you again soon enough.
I love you, Patricia Raine Mallare Pimentel.

AND I'LL FORM THE HEAD.
20th Century Fox-based production company New Regency is bringing 'Voltron' to the movies. I guess after Transformers made money, many producers are now fishing the 80s for more possible hits.

Its described to be...
"A post-apocalyptic tale set in New York City and Mexico. Five ragtag survivors of an alien attack band together and end up piloting the five lion-shaped robots that combine and form the massive sword-wielding Voltron that helps battle Earth's invaders."

Yikes.

Some Comic to Movie News..

My favorite, messed up, ultra violent, super heart tearing comic WE3 is going to get a movie treatment thanks to Don Murphy and Angry Films. For those who might not know WE3, its the three issue mini by Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely which had three animals on a quest to find their home. With guns. Anti-aircraft missles. Popping eyeballs. Decapitations. And more.

Trust me, it will be a truly wonderful film, assuming they DON'T CHANGE ANYTHING FROM THE COMIC.

At worst, they make the animals talk differently from the comic, give them "new cooler weapons" and change the plot's villain to have a face.

Please. Don't mess it up.

Missy Peregrym and Milo Ventimiglia both hope to land Wonderwoman and Robin respectively. Really now. Like you two can act. Please. Bad superhero movies already exist. Don't even think of adding to it.

I really don't get it. Heroes is so derivative and basic a series. I just don't get why so many get ooh-ed and aaah-ed by it. Only the policeman, the cheerleader and the Japanese duo were worth watching. Everything else, and yes that includes the "cool" villain, are just derivatives of so many other comics/shows/movies that I just predict everything so easily.

Ah, Apples and Oranges.

But please, don't let the WE3 movie get messed up. And please. Let the Wonderwoman and Robin movies NOT have those actors above. Find someone with real talent.

Thank you, God.

And yes, I hope you have a nice space for Mike Wieringo up there. He's work will always remind me of the greatness of Flash and Impulse. Mike Wieringo, who has illustrated many comics books, has passed away after a massive heart attack. He was only 44 years old. My condolences to his family and friends.

Some updates.
Was sick. Getting better now.
Almost done with the KN Music Video.
Appeared on MYX, which was funny.
Ethanhaas has nothing to do with 1-18-08 for certain. (it has to do with http://www.alphaomegathegame.com/ though, which looks like an interesting game)
Slusho does though, and those who ordered Slusho shirts got a torn Japanese newspaper about a baseball player whose nickname Godzilla, is in the United States. Makes you go hhmmm doesn't it?)

I miss my Panda bear.
So much.
