Friday na rin!
Sam is celebrating his birthday tonight.
I first met sam through Gelo and AEGIS. I was told that he was looking for a chance to try playing Vampire: The Masquerade and me being me, I was more than willing to give him a taste of my approach to roleplaying games.
Of course, the story is even more complex than that. But I think that sufficiently covers the important bases. Sam and I met, and before you know it, a really strong friendship is born. More detailed versions, I guess, would be available to those who ask face to face.
:-)
Happy Birthday Sam!
Its been many years now since that fateful day.
Thanks for still being my friend.

"What's the big idea?"
Attended the Ad Congress in Baguio last weekend.
What's the big idea indeed. The congress seemed to have so little to offer. Granted it could be due more to the fact I arrived only for the awards night. But not even the awards night was that interesting to watch. I guess I expected more from the event considering it was being held by the most creative minds in the country.
Haay there was more fun and excitement to be found in the long drive to Baguio.

The Amazing Louse!
Okay, within the next twenty three hours, I must be able to;
1) Finalise the TVGuide and get it ready for final art printing
2) Create a layout and design for the Comelec ad
3) Create a design and art cards for the Abante! ad
4) Make sure I finalised the requirements for Global Money
5) Pack my materials for Diliman and my unspoken solo project so I can work on them in Baguio.
Whew.... eto na test ng powers ko.

Need sleep
Worked in a commercial shoot for 24 fucking hours.
Damn.. I better be rich after this.
Had a great time running the third episode of Memento Mori though.
I can't wait to update the site.
Great Gihbli
A 12 disc DVD collection of Studio Ghilbi productions (Nausicaa, My Neighbor Totoro, Kiki's Delivery Service, etc) was for sale at 140 pesos a disk. I wanted to much in my heart to buy it but my housemate told me, "Mas mura to get it at Divisoria instead. Mga 60 pesos lang yan." Try as I might to convince him that 140 pesos was no big deal ("I don't have to struggle to find it in Divisoria." "I know the seller and can have defective disks replaced." "I have been waiting for YEARS to watch those movies again.") I ended up not buying it and telling myself to try looking for it elsewhere.
Gawd.. what a time to lack self-esteem and determination to get what I want.
That seems to be what I have been doing often lately... giving in to others expectations and desires. Parang wala na akong backbone. Shet.

Finally did it...
Been debating on whether or not to send an old friend a note saying hello.
I was never the type to really give up on friendships. I guess I always believed that true friendships overcome all boundaries... even hating each other for the rest of one's life stuff. And in as much as I might not feel the same attachment to the person as I did in the past, I cannot help but feel that the friendship should still exist.
Childish?
Stupid?
Or simply mature enough to realise some hardships are temporal..
and some bonds never were.
I just hope this simple attempt at saying hello and touching base again with an old friend isn't transformed into a multitude of things that it is not. Here's to hoping I guess?
(crosses fingers and prays)

Hmm...
Is this good or bad, I wonder.
You are worth exactly: $1,784,654.00.
We hope you can find somebody who is wealthy enough to afford you.
Find out how much you are worth at http://www.humanforsale.com

My inner child is six years old!
Look what I can do! I can walk, I can run, I can
read! I like to do stuff, and there's a whole
big world out there to do it in. Just so long
as I can take my blankie and my Mommy and my
three best friends with me, of course.

Indie comics..
I guess that's why it ain't as popular as most would think... being an indie comic artist tends to mean being ignored by practically a large (read as 99.99%) portion of the comic reading public. And what's even more frustrating is that other fellow indie artists aren't really supportive of one another.
I've tried to be supportive to others. Ner, Fero, Carl, Elbert, heck.. I even send emails and comments, if not call to share actual feedback when I can.
I've tried to keep a stiff upper lip and just keep creating.
But I guess passion has its limits.
And fuel does eventually run dry.
We'll, let's see if Diliman can still get a final hurrah!

Revolutions
Okay let me repost here my quickie review.
Having seen the movie, and not wanting to spoil things for others (oh there is precious little to spoil though)
Just watched it.
I'll keep this brief.
If you never watched Reloaded:
**** out of 10 stars
If you watched Reloaded:
****** out of 10 stars
If you really liked the first movie:
***** out of 10 stars
If you were hoping this movie would make the whole trilogy make
sense and answer all those questions:
** out of 10 stars
If you want to be entertained:
******* out of 10 stars
oh, and yes, the graphics were definitely better than Reloaded.
Although lots of questions on consistency in that final fight.

Caught up in a new game
In Memoriam.
Astig sobra. You should check it out.
Its amazing, the way it mixes fact and fiction into a compelling, mind-boggling game.
I wish there were more like this.
Reminds me of a RPG game I once ran called Seekers where the game was not confined to the table and dice. Its hard to elaborate on it now that so much time as passed, but damn, its one of those kind of games I ran which I can still emotionally recall the satisfaction of having run.

Groans...
Pre-production has begun with the project that has the world's worst clients. Although we struggle each and every time to look at it in a better light, it just is so hard to do so. My boss must have sensed my lack of enthusiasm for the project. I mean, honestly, how often does one receive a text message that reads;
I know that despite the odds, you can still create magic with these ads. Never give up!
God Bless her, my boss is truly a nice woman.
She can be hard to understand at times, when she gives in to additional projects even when we already are all swamped, but when she tries to show you support, she really does succeed.
Its strange.
I'm happy to work under her. I can see every effort she places into making us enjoy our jobs. Heck, she succeeded in a request we had a year ago (Which was to get us to attend the Ad Congress) and is still fighting to get us the stuff we wanted to work with (such as new hardware, software and styluses for the macs!).
I guess one really learns to see the silver-lining in things when one first accepts the fact some shit has to be embraced.
