It is hard to speak much of the genius of Gerry Alanguilan's Elmer. The best I can say is this. This comic really forces you to reconsider the use of komiks as a comic vehicle and see its potential in more mature storytelling... even if the comic has talking chickens as the main character. While some might quickly point out similarities to Maus, I still feel Elmer touches the ground in a unique way that deserves to be experienced.
