Woot!

I love Tori Amos!

Happy Halloween!

Yes, there were really disturbing costumes this Halloween, although few can compete with the disturbing image I found to grace my site this Halloween.

There was a time Colonel Sanders was a viable Halloween Costume.

Scary.

He still does remind me of the Architect in the Matrix trilogy.

Its sad though.  Halloween has become victim to the censorship and control of less open-minded figures.  In some places, scary and frightening has been replaced with manga and anime costumes instead.  Superheroes and fairies are preferred while ghouls, ghasts and bloody victims are not even permitted to walk about the party grounds.

Halloween has little difference now with cosplay parties.

:-(

Give me the bloody, frightening, spine tingling, hair raising spooks instead.
It is only once a year that fear takes the throne.
Why stop it now?

Sighs.

Confession: I killed a dog.

Details are not going to be shared.
Basta, I killed a dog.

:-P

Actually...

Don't you just love Pushing Daisies?
Each time you share the series pilot with someone you kill a dog again and again.

Season Two just rocks!
Get someone into the show too...

...and you can confess you killed a dog today.

Happy Birthday to Mon!

The few pictures I was able to take during his birthday at O bar.
A pity the group shot was out of focus. Na intimidate ako sa dami ng mga VIPs kasi. Di ko kinaya tumayo sa tapat nila ng matagal.

Mabuhay ka, Mon!

ADB at O Bar again

Medyo nakainom na ako... nag papanget na ng pictures ko eh!
Hehehhe..

Sonny birthday

Had a small celebration to salubong Sonny's birthday last October 21.
Makulay ang gabi as usual in its own way.

The O Divas even had a surprise number with Sonny to be part of it. A fun, happy, non-malicous, non-bastos number which even Sonny had fun with.

Happy Birthday Sonny!

Something that made me happy, Something that made me sad.

Happy first.

The Prisoner is about to me remade by BBC!  Yay!  And guess who will take the lead role.  Our very own Dr. Who, Christopher Eccleston to take over Patrick McGoohan's role as Number Six!

Read about it here:
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/celebritynews/1904353/Christopher-Eccleston-tipped-for-lead-in-new-Prisoner.html

Now the sad.

Little Big Planet is being recalled since its soundtrack happened to have two expressions found in the Qur'an.   Personally I find this sad.  What's next?  We can't have the words, "Thy Will Be Done" in any movie, script, story or game since its from the Bible?  Oh, the word angel or star or love is now banned since they also appear in the Qur'an?

Come on people.  All this uber sentivity is accomplishing nothing but more reason not to be happy with diversity.

Read about the stupidity here:
http://www.nothingbutsoftware.com/blog/2008/10/little-big-planet-recall/

Lost Season 5 Trailer is Up!

Oh boy!  This remains my absoute favorite show.  Better than Pushing Daisies.  Better than True Blood.  Better than Terminator, Sarah Connor Chronicles.  Better than The Big Bang Theory.

The trailer can be found here.
http://spoilerslost.blogspot.com/

Also, a fan made this really really cool trailer, which definitely deserves special mention here too.

Thanks to Terrence of the Lost in the Philippines group for giving me a heads up!

As posted at http://isharaine.multiply.com/journal/item/223

Isha and I have decided that after 2 years and 8 months of being together, it's time to figure out who and where we are separately.  She has been in Canada a year and a half, and that's a year and a half of physical distance, and we have found that we're growing into different people because of different circumstances.

We've decided to give each other space, and maybe, someday, God willing, find each other again. Or not. A lot of you are friends of us both; please know, this isn't a bitter breakup, there are no sides, we still consider you all our friends (and this is not mutually exclusive either)

Some of you may choose to judge this negatively. That's  your prerogative. But not your business to begin with.

Yun lang po.

Paalam na, aking mahal.   Kay hirap sabihin.

Roseroland October Party

Too bad I arrived a bit late.
Wasn't able to be in most of the party.
Wish my Panda Bear was with me.

Still, it was fun!
Thanks for having me.

A bunch of gimmicks

Actually di naman. But a number of pictures from various gimmicks that I have yet to upload. Just reminding myself there are good times, bad times...

Now gimme some of that!
:-)

OMG Nathan Fillion PRON!?!?!?!

Nailing Your Wife
Nathan Fillion Stars In James Gunn's 'PG Porn' (Video):(taken from Tv Shark.com) Director James Gunn has created a short film which spoofs a porn film, without the sex.

Here's how he describes his venture: "How many times have you been watching a great porn film. You're really enjoying the story, the acting, the cinematography, when, all of the sudden, they ruin everything with people having sex?"

"That's why I, along with my brothers Brian and Sean, have created pornography everyone can enjoy."The short called 'Nailing Your Wife' stars Nathan Fillion and Aria Giovanni, and includes everything from the goofy acting, the notoriously bad music, and the paper-thin plot.

STARCRAFT now a TRILOGY

Definitely a move that is to earn mixed views from its fans, Blizzard has decided the next Starcraft installment will have to be released as three separate games to give enough material for each race and for a greater story arc.  More on this here.

My view?

I say as long as the following things are incorporated somehow into this trilogy, then its a good move:

1) All three races SHOULD BE PLAYABLE for multiplayer games for each segment of the trilogy.  So whether I get the first, second or last pack, I can play Terran, Zerg or Protos for multiplayer games.

2) Each pack should still add something unique for the customer.  So even if I only get the first pack, I have an incentive (other than additional single player story to go through) to buy the others.  Typically this means more units.  Take for instance the Dawn of War series.  Each pack added a new "race" to play" as well as additional units to use.    What they did wrong was, the pack you installed limited what you can use for multiplayer.  And that majorly sucked.

3) Each pack COMBINATION should add even something more unique.  Maybe installing packs 1 and 2 give an additional race as well, which is different from the additional race you get when you install packs 2 and 3 instead.   And of course, if you install all 3 packs, you get both new races as part of your game, as well as a third new one for having a complete set.  Or maybe this can be more freebies.  Behind the scenes videos.  Sketchbook designs.  Maybe even comic graphics showing the story of certain favorite characters.

4) Each pack should also have new inventive maps for solo or multiplayer other than the typical game.  Think of a DOTA type of game using Starcraft.  Or maybe a few Tower Defense Maps.  Or maybe even a RPG style map.

5) If Blizzard is really smart, they should also consider making MULTI RACE options in the game.  Something like HYBRID RACES you can access depending on the games you install.  Maybe if pack 1 is Terran focused, and pack 2 is zerg focused (as far as the story is concerned), maybe installing packs 1 and 2 allows you to access Half-human Half-Zerg units.  This is in line with idea #3, but deserves to be mentioned since it uses existing units with certain modifications and changes.   Or maybe even an alliance system where you can have a Protos Human game (controlling BOTH bases alone) against someone else in multiplayer with their own combination choices.

6) I would love to see a third game mode, where you choose a hero who can be "leveled up" like in Warcraft III.  Though the mass combat RTS of Starcraft is what I miss, I would love to see them adapt the WC3 gameplay into the game somehow as an option.

Of course.  These are all wishful thinking.
If only Blizzard hired me, eh?

Tom Mabe: Uber Fun Prank

I love it. Here's a warning to all other telemarketers.  Now I got ideas on how to deal with you. Bwahahhaha!!!!

Thank you to Earl for sharing this!

Stories... and Telling Them

My brother and I are 3 years apart in age.  That means it was very common for me and him to be interested in the same things as we grew up.  From G.I. Joe to He-man, Starwars to Centurions (sorry, we were never Trekkies/Trekkers), there were precious few things we did not both enjoy.  One of our favorites among all the toys we ever had were our Lego Blocks.  Using Lego blocks, we would construct our own fully transformable Transformers and M.A.S.K. vehicles, we would create massive cities which we would then take turns destroying by throwing tennis balls at, we would even eventually invent our own first "reality television show" and build monster trucks, then videotape as we literally SMASH them at each other (first driver of a car that flies off the car loses).

Creativity was definitely in our blood.

And while my brother eventually began to take the path of music in his creative impetus, I much clearly saw mine during my Preperatory years.

There was an Elocution/Storytelling Contest.

My mother penned up a piece for me to narrate.  Inspired by the Biblical tale of Jesus calming the stormy seas, my mom crafted a tale of me having a terrible terrible nightmare.  And in the nightmare, the story of Jesus and his calming of the rough seas became a story I was to relate in the contest.

So there I was, the sixth contestant in the event.  While others quoted "Oh Captain my Captain" and other literary gems written by established writers, I narrated "Nightmare: The Storm" written by my mother (and keen readers would note the title resonates well to my favorite RPG gaming titles now).

I didn't expect it.
I didn't expect it at all.
My competitors were known to be really smart.  Among the top ten students of the WHOLE BATCH.  They were intellectuals who could carry conversations about politics at that age.  They were kids who knew each and every region of the Philippines at heart.  They were the kind of kids who made you feel stupid without trying because you realize you couldn't keep up with the conversation.

They were friends however, and they never let me feel like I was stupid.
But again, I didn't expect it at all.

I felt like it was one of the first major wins for me.  A shinning moment that gave me a huge "nudge" of what I was good at.  And what I should never forget to embrace.  Some people learn they have a knack for certain sports.  Others have an ear for music.   A tongue for food tasting.  A witty arsenal of words for writing.

I had an ability to tell a story.

Maybe one better face to face than written down (my blog is probably boring to read) but a small niche in the world which I realized I could proudly admit being good at.   Long story made shorter, is it really a surprise my biggest hobby to date is storytelling/roleplaying games?  And deep down, my fondest wish is to eventually someday create, write, shoot and release a full length film/television series for the world to enjoy?

Why am I suddenly sharing all these reminiscing thoughts all of the sudden?  Frankly, I do not know.   Maybe its a way for me to deal with some stress I am going through.  Or maybe there's someone out there who needs to read these things to help them get through something they are going through.  Maybe I just needed to let it out.  Or maybe, I just wanted to share a bit more stories about who I am.

Ultimately, I hope its a good story.
It ain't fiction, after all.

Pictures from the Past... Thoughts on the Present...

As a kid, i used to be the weird kid.   Hmm, I know in many ways I still do fall under the category of "the weird guy" but as a kid it was much more pronounced.  I used to have problems with being around too many people (there was too much stimuli to receive at the same time.  In the picture above, look for the uneasy kid in the crowd.) and I used to have far too much energy for a kid of my age.  Although I wasn't the kid of kid who got into trouble a lot, I was usually the one who started some new cause of trouble in school (like passing around notes to the point that fellow classmates would pass around notes folded like paper planes whenever the teacher would look away) or sneaking in snacks and selling them to my classmates.

Even as the years went by, I always seemed to find myself in a strange ironic state of being.  I was always in the shadow of my brother, the taller and handsomer and more talented one among us, but at the same time was always desperately seeking to do something he can't do.  We'd have matching clothes, same toys and similar hobbies, but I would always struggle to find a way to bring it to some other level.  Or do it in some other way.  He'd make action comics and super heroes, I'd suddenly go brutal splatter fest and horror.  He'd grab a video camera and make mock "on the spot interviews" and news reports, I'd turn the camere into a monster's POV and make a snuff film.

We were always similar enough but different enough and it was mostly me wanting to be like him... and some how be better than him.

When my sister finally joined us, things were suddenly very interesting at home.  The panganay would get what he wanted (look! Its a basketball court in the background, not a swimming pool) while the bunso would get the expected attention (only girl kasi).  The result?   I ended up upping my A-game.  I became the jester.  The source of laughs.  The wild card in the family who would do what everyone else would not.

Now, there are few people who get to know me and not quickly gain the impression of me as a fun person to be with.  Or a source of endless jokes.  Or a wellspring of laughter.   Which I guess is true.  After all, it has taken me my lifetime to master.

Keep laughing, people.
