BY THE WAY
Started a new webcomic. Check it out here.
SILENT HILL... GREAT/NOT SO GREAT
Just watched Silent Hill with my Panda Bear Isha and here's what I can say. The first half of the movie was astounding! Christopher Gans really was able to tap into the game and flesh out a tense-building movie that matched the disturbing quality of the game. But once the protagonists arrive at the Church... well, it seems the more Western mindset of filmmaking takes over and... let's just say there is an over-abudance of "trying to explain what is going on" rather than keeping the movie twistedly disturbing.

<-- Rose upon realizing her script requires her from being a very believable mother with a desperate need to save her daughter into some strange heroine with the power to shut up a ranting mob of idiots by speaking out in a Shakespearean manner.

SPOILER WARNING ALERT:

SPOILER WARNING ALERT:

SPOILER WARNING ALERT:

SPOILER WARNING ALERT:

SPOILER WARNING ALERT:

Well, let's begin. The movie combines elements of the four games into one narrative and attempts to make it easily coherent to the ignorant masses mindset by the second act. Beginning with a heart-palpitation-inducing intro with Sharon missing in the couple's wonderful house, we get glimpses of the interesting camera play and composition which the Director found from the game. Strangely, however, they use this scene to instead force the issue that Sharon is going through some strange event that is tied to some place called Silent Hill. They even spoil the later scenes with a touch of the "dark world" this early and reveal they had a set that could have matched the way Silent Hill 2 first introduces the power of the radio and the need for a broken pipe to serve as a weapon: they had a pipe set.

They play up Sharon as some spooky girl with nice drawings (which was a good touch to connect to the drawings helping Rose find which place to head next.) but then mess up the approach of Silent Hill 1's intro by having the cop play a larger scene this early and having some unnecessary far wide shots of a car travelling alone in a winding road. They have the crash happen, but then the car emerges in the fog... oh sorry, smokey world of Silent Hill with nothing there as what it slammed into. Then, rather than stick to the disturbing intro of Silent Hill 1 where Cheryl first plays hopscotch, then runs off to lure Harry into more trouble, they have Rose chase after an evidently running away Sharon who doesn't seem to even possible be the same kid other than they wear the same clothes.

The initial scare sequence with the darkness and the sirens is done well, but then they replace the scream-inducing twist of Silent Hill 1 (anyone who has played it would know what i mean) with something less effective and more appropriate in movies like X-Men or other high budget B-movies.

Then it gets stranger. Though visually compelling, with an event disturbingly beautiful rendition of Pyramid Head, they turn the bathroom sequence into something almost stereotypical of horror flicks and have Rose run out a door she just locked far too easily. Even more annoyingly, they contradict the games by having Dahlia Guillespie, the original cult leader, suddenly become some sympathetic mother and having the place suddenly filled with so many people wanting to stupidly follow a Narnia Ice Queen reject's words of burning anyone they don't like.

Since they used the innocent-evil halves concept of Silent Hill 1 and 3, the concept of hidden crime and sin of Silent Hill 2 and even the hints of Silent Hill 4's the Room in the ending, why in heaven's name did they ignore the really cool fetus scenes of Silent Hill 3, the disturbing phone sequence of Silent Hill 1 (which remains a classic with its "Daddy... Help me... Daddy...." line) and more so, the triumphant two headed monstrosities of Silent Hill 4, the less C-G dependent approach of a boss ending in Silent Hill 2 and the rebirth cycle of Silent Hill 1? Why did they abandon the Doctor and the Merry Go Round sequences which really were disturbingly uniquely effective in the game? Where have the names of the angels gone? Why is suddenly the cult focused on twisted judeo-Christianity rather than a more gnostic Female God Figure?

And lastly, where are the twisted pink rabbits, damn it?!?!?

So, ultimately, if you were to ask me: Yes, Silent Hill is still worth watching. Definitely worth seeing if you're a fan. But hey, once they start turning hokey and struggle to explain everything without looking like B-movie characters in a high budget film, shut down your mind and just enjoy the fact that at least the movie stayed scary to some level. Resident Evil tried to do a Terminator meets Aeon Fluxx.

UPDATE:
Okay, where to begin? Saturday morning, after picking up Isha and Awie, Basil and Kathy, we headed to the SLEX to meet with Eman, Tom, Sam, Ian and Carlo. From there, it was a traffic-engorged convoy to Los Banos to have a join celebration of Isha and my birthdays. Murphy's Law struck so many times (including not having the key to the rest house as well as getting locked in the bathroom) before the day finally started to get more fun. Delicious food, a brief Cranium session, playstation 2 fun and lots of laughs made it a day to remember.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Flash forward, Sunday evening, after a few oopsies (including a text message mistakenly sent to me telling me to stall myself longer), I fall prey to a surprise birthday bash my sweetie organized weeks ago with a load of my friends from different circles. Homemade ice cream, delicious cake, Silvanas from the Evil Eye and Asti Martini mark the day as one for the books with far too many things to eat! Sam valiantly and eventually successfully convinces everyone to try Cranium again! And later on, I infect my Panda Bear with Katamari Damacy fever!

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Monday night becomes Isha's night as we gather in U.P. Sunken Garden to watch the stars, eat and celebrate her 24th birthday. Her best friend Maui get's to join us (a rare event) and lots of laughs (for both good and bad jokes!) and short anecdotes are traded before the night has to come to an end. Mang Fernan is the true trooper here, barely getting sleep within the last three days yet having the energy to ensure we get to travel safely around Manila.

Today, is my birthday. Kept it simple by going to work and having lunch with my officemates. Got Reese chocolates from Joey (My favorite!!!) and was sung to my over twenty officemates on my walk back to the office from lunch. Embarassingly fun and memorable, that's for certain!

Talk about busy days, eh?

P.S.
Isha, I love you!

1955

“What if the police ever learn of… learn of this? What if they realize all these years you’ve had this person…”

“He is not a person, Paul,” Alex Burgess found himself frustratedly throwing a handful of papers at the nearby desk before turning to face his lover, Paul McGuire, to pout. Paul smiles and tries to console his lover, only to be rebuffed.

“Not now, Paul.”

“Alex,” Paul protested, “Listen to yourself. You talk about him as something of a… of a demon!”

“Not a demon,” Alex sighed and brushed a hand across his beard. His eyes seemed heavy and weary. His brows furrowed in regret, “He’s been down there, Paul. Down there for what… forty or so years now? Never eating. Never sleeping… He’s beautiful. I’ve seen him. I’ve wanted to… to touch him.” Unconsciously, Alex drew the silver heart-shaped lighter from his pocket, “And in some ways, I find myself unable to stop thinking of him.”

Paul frowned.

“The order. My father’s order was not just some party trick to make money and get laid, Paul. There are things about it which are real. Which truly boggle the mind. And I have witnessed many things which I have never told you. Things which I feel you best never experience. I love you too much to risk involving you in all this.”

“Well, if there’s anything good coming out of your mouth right now it is this, Alex,” Paul smiled and gave his lover a hug from behind, “At least you still care. Not like so many others in the rest of the world. So… indifferent.”

* * *

Desire watched as the trickle of water crept between the stone floor’s minute cracks and fissures. He watched as the water slid against the occult markings that kept his prison secure. Watched as the solvent gently… tediously.. tirelessly tore against the symbols until they began to erode.

But perhaps teasingly. Or perhaps coyly. The water would always evaporate before enough damage could be done. And another set of weeks would be needed before the trickle would reach the symbols again.

But what was time to one of the Endless?

And so Desire continued to wait.

* * *

1970

Alex Burgess was the sole owner of the Burgess estate. After many years of successful industry and business, even amidst the terrible events of a world-wide war, the sixty eight year old man found himself wealthy beyond anything he had ever thought he would inherit. With his late father having never had any other children, and his mother now long missing since she walked out on their family when Roderick Burgess, Alex’s father, passed away, Alex found himself with far too much wealth and far little health at the twilight years of his life. Thankfully, his lover and companion, still stood fast by his side.

“You have been here for many years now, demon,” Alex confronted the prostate form of Desire from outside the cage. Paul McGuire was told to wait upstairs. Alex knew better than to let the demon see his lover’s face. “As you can see now, my father’s threats of imprisoning you are sound. Are real. And if anything happens to me, you are quite possibly forever imprisoned in this mortal coil. Surely you would wish to parley now. To consider a bargain of sorts.” A bout of coughing interrupted Alex’s words. He found his mind remembering the page of Liber Fulvarum Paginarum which he had discovered correctly identified his captive: The Queen of Hearts. The King of Want. A sibling of Those Without End. “You can end this torment. End this impotence. This imprisonment. Just swear to me. Promise me you shall never interfere with my life. With my friends. My lovers. Promise me that if we allow you to leave, you shall in turn forever leave us alone.”

Desire looked up at Alex and simply stared back.

1978

The trickle had broken the sigil. A single sigil was all Desire needed for the mystical prison that held him to no longer hold any power over him. And thanks to the patient wait of decades, that mystical prison no longer held any sway over one such as himself.

And yet, Desire simply sat where he was. He looked at the fading symbol and felt the touch of his strength and domain slowly grow once again. But even though he know had enough power to leave, Desire chose to stay.

He did not deem that moment, after all, to be the moment he desired to leave.

1988

Paul McGuire shook his head and laid down the copy of Stephen King’s It on the table, carefully marking the page he had reached with a pencil, then turned to face his lover who barely could leave his wheelchair without help. Now in the ripe old age of 86, Alex Burgess was well aware death was close. All those rampant nights of carefree sex and unprotected couplings were now taking their toll on his body. His doctor did tell him, however, that he was lucky to have reached such a ripe age. Alex Burgess was signing the papers and handed them to his lawyer who then counter-signed the sheets with his own pen. Paul hated what was happening but Alex insisted on it. They were signing papers that would officially transfer all of the Burgess estate to Paul McGuire upon Alex’ demise. Having been gay and never having any children, Alex felt no one better deserved his family’s legacy… and long hidden prisoner.

“Alex, this truly feels absurd. To the least, remember we are barely a decade of difference in age. Perhaps you should bequeath part of your estate to a charity perhaps? Or a relative?” Paul tried to convince his lover even if he knew quite well such protests would fall upon deaf ears.

“No one stands in my heart more than-“ Alex wanted to finish his sentence and say the word “you” but a terrible truth rose into his awareness. Some how, after all those years of passion and love, he could not find any hint of it within his heart. Whatever powerful attachment he had for Paul all those years seemed to not even exist that moment.

“Alex?” Paul noticed Alex’ concerned expression and walked closer to see if his lover needed anything.

“More than..” Alex tried again and realized to say “you” felt like lying. The word suddenly had the same integrity as telling his father he was straight. “More than…”

“Than whom?” a third voice spoke and none save Alex heard its words. The words themselves carried not only strength but a life time of kisses, rough sex and salt-tinged embraces which Alex had always found before when looking into Paul’s eyes.

”No,” Alex cried out and began to frantically attempt to move his wheelchair towards the door. The lawyers nearby stood back, uncertain what had begun to transpire. Paul grabbed hold of the wheelchair and tried to calm Alex down by pressing his face against his shoulder. In the past, that act would always have Alex stop whatever he was doing, then turn to kiss Paul on the temple. Today, however, it merely provoked the Daemon King to shove his head against Paul’s with enough force for Paul to pull back. “I have to get down there! I have to see him! To see him!”

Like press reporters covering an event, the lawyers and Paul quickly followed after Alex, hoping that doing so would lend more sense into the events that were unfolding. Paul knew where they were headed even before Alex began fumbling for the keys leading to the basement.

“I have to see him!”

* * *

Desire wrapped his arms around his knees and waited without a sound in the prison that has long become his home. As Alex finally arrived, his wheelchair carefully carried down the steps leading to the prison, Desire slowly stood up back to full height and offered Alex the most subtle of smiles.

“I finally make your acquaintance once more, Daemon King?”

“You!” Alex screamed and though his doctor constantly reminded him not to strain his heard, the Daemon King continued to yell, demanding that the prisoner explain himself. “How are you doing this! I know this is you. I want-“

Again the words failed to form in Alex Burgess mouth. It was almost as if the whole world suddenly transformed into a buffet table ready for anyone to partake in. Only in this case, the buffet was one of knowledge and social awareness. And all seemed focused on one single woman.

“Who are you…” Paul McGuire called out from behind, standing behind his lover with both hands clamped over the chair. “How did you escape?”

“I have done no such thing,” Desire admitted and motioned towards the leak. “Save what is my place in this reality.”

Alex Burgess felt the sudden explosion of understanding that nothing he had felt for or held on to carried the emotional weight they used to. No one seemed important to him all of the sudden. No one was worth caring over. And in this confrontation of his own fears, Alex Burgess found one lone place where such a feeling of love could be retrieved again.

Desire smiled.

* *

Paul McGuire kept his hands over his face. The images of what had transpired remained seared in his brain. Desire walked over to Alex Burgess and clamped a hand over his long torpid member with one hand while the other slid against the old man’s chest. Flickering a cigarette from seemingly out of nowhere, the Queen of Hearts brought the cigarette close to Alex’ face. “Got a light?”

The vibrant hues of fiery gold and orange erupted from Desire’s bosom as the heart-shaped lighter was gently placed onto his hand. Like a volcano that erupted dancing fire works and rainbows, Desire felt the first surge of his greater potential coming back to mingle in his essence.

“Please.. I never wanted you to stay imprisoned,” Paul cried out like a child. Desire stared at him for a moment, before leaving. “I always told Alex it might be best to simply let you go and turn a blind-eye. You must believe me!” Like a half-remembered tryst, Paul felt he knew what was to happen yet prayed something else would instead. And frighteningly, he was right. Desire walked up to Paul and found him weeping at the corner, too frightening to say a coherent word. “Enough,” Desire told him, “My vengeance shall not require you tonight.”

“Why are you doing this?” Alex Burgess called out in vain.

“Because I desire to do so. Today. And none save Desire can make that decision without question,” Desire allowed a touch of his power to explode outwards, filling Alex with regrets, and showering them all with the immense realization that the night was just beginning.

PANDA BEAR AND I GROW OLDER
Yep. April 24 marked the birthday of my Panda Bear. April 25, on the other hand, was my birthday. Will have to explain what has so far been 4 days of celebration soon. For now, however, let me mark both dates with these two images!

TIME with my PANDA BEAR
Thanks to my sister, Tracy, been able to bring my Panda bear to Aruba to watch Stonefree and Rivermaya! As expected, I barely was noticed once Rico Blanco was there. I could just imagine how much worse it would be if it were Hale with Champ. Sigh. Hirap talaga maging Kuya Bodjie. Had I been Dave Grohl in her eyes, I'd be more noticed! Hehehhe

THE GOOD AND THE REALLY FUCKING UGLY

compared to Pioneer's approach

Image hosting by Photobucket

Seriously. Do they expect their version of the poster to generate more interest and fucking sales of movie tickets? Its so horrendous, I feel like the movie was instantly transformed to a state below local cinema's worst movies. Someone please blow their office up and wipe them out of the face of the planet.

And notice, hindi sila nag-premiere ng movie.
Fuckers. They really should die.
SILENT HILL DEFACED
Pioneer is distributing the movie for local release. Have you seen the stupid fuck-up job they did to the movie poster? They totally defaced it, added a stupid obvious fuck-up gun to the female lead's hand and added really stupid fonts all over it.

FUCK THEM.

They just ruined the chances of the movie looking more appealing and hitting a market. What the hell is wrong with these putang-inang fuckers who think they know what's best for a movie (which already has its own marketing approach and poster designs?!?!?)

Pioneer, in its infinite stupidity, threw away the existing posters that Sony itself made for Silent Hill. THESE are the posters for the movie that were created by the people behind the movie.

But NO, for PIONEER, they thought they could do better. And now you got their horrible version of the poster everywhere in Manila, making the movie look like some stupid cheap B-movie!

Hell even the existing cooky "I Have No Mouth But I Must Scream" based poster of Sharon was weird, but damn it was classy weird. And I have nothing against the Americans who have begun defacing the poster to make it even more funny. At least, those show the posters get noticed.
And in a good way.

But the Pioneer poster? God Damn Them To Hell.
Will see if I can get a picture of the eyesore poster and post it here.

But til then, may God be kind and cause all those behind the poster's violation to die. Horribly. Slowly. And if God be willing, by my hand too.

MOVIES TO SEE AND EXPERIENCE:
Being a lover of movies and a storyteller (and at some point in my life, a filmmaker), I have always had a spot in my heart for movies. Horror, documentaries, love stories, adventure, psychological thrillers, comedy, action, drama and even mock reality movies have always fascinated me and showed me the many ways (good and bad) a story can be shared. Emotions and paradigms are teased, stirred and in some cases even questioned as the movie shares its views and possible messages to the viewer.

Here is a small list of movies I am anxiously awaiting to see within the year:
SILENT HILL - Combining unsettling camera angles, beautiful use of darkness and sound, Silent Hill produces horror in a way that most survival-horror games and horror movies rely more on surprise tactics and shock. While movies like The Hills Have Eyes or Hostel rely on gore and gruesome imagery, the Silent Hill game series focused more on atmosphere and story tied to very strong characterization to deliver the fear. Screenwriter Roger Avary researched into the town of Centralia, Pennsylvania in order to develop the story of Silent Hill. Centralia was once a thriving community of over 1,000 residents back in 1981. Today, only 11 people remain in the city, as a result of a 40-year mine fire that has been burning underneath the town that began way back in 1962.

Cast includes: Radha Mitchell, Sean Bean, Laurie Holden, Deborah Kara Unger and Kim Coates.
Directed by Christophe Gans.

KINKY BOOTS - Inspired by true events and combining the comedy born when two different worlds meet in an attempt of one man's search for a way to save a family business, Kinky Boots introduces to us Lola, a brassy female impersonator cabaret singer who becomes an unlikely ally in a bid to save a dying shoe business. This is wonderful story about people who have spent their lives trying to fit in finally deciding to take the actions necessary to finally stand out.

Cast includes: Joel Edgerton (known more as Owen Lars in Star Wars: The Revenge of the Sith) and Chiwetel Ejiofor (who makes an amazing change of image and role from his no-nonsense disciplined assassin from the Josh Whedon movie, Serenity)
Directed by: Julian Jarrold

Image hosting by Photobucket

FIND ME GUILTY - Vin Diesel reinvents himself as an effective comedy actor as he plays a mobster who defends himself in court for what would be the longest mafia trial in U.S. history. Based on the true story of Jack DiNorscio, Find Me Guilty combines snappy banter with a great set of characters into a movie that looks both fun, funny and yet heart-warming to watch. Heart-warming? Well, I do have a soft spot for underdogs, so there.

Cast includes: Vin Diesel, Peter Dinklage and Linus Roache
Directed by: Sidney Lumet (who also wrote the screenplay)

DRAWING RESTRAINT 9 - Lastly, Drawing Restraint 9 is... hard to describe. It is an art film by American artist Matthew Barney, dealing with the relationship between creativity and self-imposed resistance. Shot in Nagasaki Bay, the film is set aboard the Japanese whaling ship Nisshin Maru. The core idea of the two hour and fifteen minute movie is the relationship between self-imposed resistance and creativity, a theme symbolically tracked through the construction, transformation, bisection and recreation of a liquid vaseline structure called "The Field".

Sounds confusing? It is.
But it looks damn good. And I truly feel that I will find myself gaining a lot of insight, ideas and inspiration while watching this movie. Though many pan it for being too much artsy tripe and all that, I have always found it best to watch a film with an open mind and to see what you can gain from it, regardless of how bad it can be.

Dear General MacArthur,

With your permission
I offer wishes of good health,
During this heat
That burns anything.

The words I slowly put together
Do not flow easily, they only fill my heart

Recently, fulfilling
Your heart’s desire
You removed the whaling
Moratorium.
Your gesture brings
A much needed food
To our community
And families,

The words I slowly put together
Do not flow easily, they only fill my heart

A million year old fossil
I send to you.
This comes from my family
And the ancient sea.
A prehistoric impression
Of the modern krill,
She feeds the noble whale,
And offers you longevity

The words I slowly put together
Do not flow easily, they only fill my heart

Finally, please take good care in the heat.

Sincerely yours,
Shizuka

HAD A PRETTY EVENTFUL WEEK!
Author's note: This blog post has been sanitized as per requested by certain individuals. Still, all reported details are fact. Grabe, parang intro ng Da Vinci Code ito!

Oh boy... the last week was so hectic, and I am not even talking about work yet! Still, every single day was worth it! Panda Bear Isha and I were able to spend much time together! John Boy is back home and on the road to recovery. Jonette is a happy happy gal. And my sister Tracy rocks!

Image hosting by Photobucket

We got to watch a bunch of bands including Stonefree, Pupil, Dicta License, Six Cycle Mind and a few others! Tracy invited me and Isha to go check out Teatrock at Dish! (which incidentally is in ABS-CBN The Loop). Isha brought a friend of her's from Fine Arts (sorry! Forgot her name!) Lots of cool bands played. Stonefree, however, stole the show. While most bands seemed content with their musical masturbation, Stonefree entertained and made the experience a concert to really watch and jive with!

(Was hoping to see Paramita or Urbandub but sadly.. nope.)

Of course, Isha suddenly wanting to run away with Ely Buendia had nothing to do with me not being too happy with the Pupil show. :-P

The event was helmed by Stephen, a friend and fellow actor of Uncle Ricky from Ateneo.

Image hosting by Photobucket

A friend of mine, Jonette recently graduated and as a present I got her a copy of Arnold Arre's Andong Agimat. Wanting to make the gift even more special, I swallowed my hiya and contacted Arnold via Cynthia's blog, asking if it would be too much to ask him to sign the copy. I met Cynthia Bauzon a long long time ago, back when I first heard of Sugarhiccup and was blown away by the cover of the cd. I wanted to contact the artist behind the look and Cynthia happened to be the one behind it. We chatted a lot before and lost touch some time ago.

After bumping into them again back when Neil Gaiman had a press thingie last year, and bumping into them again at the Bahay ng mga Alumni during the Komikon, I decided to take the gamble and hope she remembered me. Thankfully, she did.

Arnold came by, signed Jonette's copy, and the two gave us some time in their very busy schedule to chat with us. I am so very happy and grateful that they were that accomodating! Thank you so much again Cynthia and Arnold!

Image hosting by Photobucket

John boy is an old schoolmate of mine (Animo La Salle!) and when I heard he was in the hospital, Panda Bear and I made sure we found time to pay him a visit. Without getting into details, let's just say he's happily on the road to recovery. Isha found a pair of tweezers and decided to give me a Queer Eye moment. (Hmm... she calls me "mama" and she "plucked" me. So she's my mama pluck... uh er... Love you!!!)

Glad you're doing better John boy! Miss the times you'd hang over and reminisce over the fun, funny, hilarious and pathetic years we had back in college. Catch you around again some time buddy.

Pwet.

film review:
THE HILLS HAVE EYES
Thanks to my ultra cool sister Tracy, Panda Bear Isha, Awie, Basil and I were able to watch the premiere of THE HILLS HAVE EYES today. Though most marketing for the movie had focused on Emilie De Ravin of Lost (second season official site here), the real stars of the film were Aaron Stanford who is better remembered as Pyro of Bryan Singer's X-men movies and a dog named Beast.

The film opens with a disturbing surge of imagery and video footage of nuclear testing and its horrible effects on human genetics set to brain-shredding industrial tunes and old Perfect American Family music. This, for me, was the most horrific part of the movie since it was deeply seated in reality. It is simply disturbing how such atrocities have occurred and may possible still be occurring in our world.

After that, the movie kicks off into the standard Hollywood horror fare, with a very nice build-up but sadly, many predictable moments. The gore is given in very generous helpings, however, and the special effects and make-up of the whole production is very convincingly well done. The use of music and sound effects were more manipulative however, relying on heart-pounding high volume percussion and industrial beats to get one's heart racing. Kinda like Silent Hill's approach, only done overly obvious.

In the mid-point of the film, a short breather is provided, giving the viewers time to settle down a bit and brace oneself for another foray of screaming and shrieking but sadly, the pay-off ultimately fails as the film commits two tremendously predictable mistakes which kind of cheapen the ending and give it an unwanted finish. The approach to the "monsters" in the film was beautiful at first, from a mysteriously disturbing glimpse of them in the shadows, to a i-can't-look-away scene when they are revealed in disturbing clarity as they... wait, I rather not spoil it.

The film has its good moments. And it has its screams.
But I think I'd reserve this for the RENTAL bin if I were you.

Unless you love dogs.

Or you could wait for this instead!

LOTS OF UPDATES:
Image hosting by Photobucket
Panda Bear Isha and I had an unexpected lunch with the mother's side of the Abad Clan last weekend. We passed by MAX's Fried Chicken to drop of a package my mother left in the car when the rest of the family invited us to stay and eat. So now, the mother's side of my family has met my Panda Bear! :-)

Later that day, we headed to Dean's booklaunch of Salamanca, his first novel! There were a lot of people there (and not just friends of your mom, Dean!) and the reading of pages 12-13 were so powerfully enticing, well, let's just say Dean truly is one of the people who inspire me in so many ways. Got to catch up with all my old friends there too: Vinnie, El, Andrew, Alex, Kate, etc...

Image hosting by Photobucket

Met up also with Jonette to congratulate her for her graduation. Going to get her copy of Arnold Arre's Andong Agimat signed soon.

Dean teased me about when MY novel is coming up? I dunno man.. I don't even have a Palanca award. Who on earth would love to publish my stuff? I think I will submit Skydiving for the upcoming Palanca Awards though... just to see if it would be received well.

BTW, To Vinnie, Dean and the rest. If you want copies of the pictures, do tell me if you want them at actual size (which is around 7.3 MB, or around 300KB per photo) or if you are fine with just getting a CD some time from me. I can email it. But I need to know if you're okay with receiving e-mail that huge. Thanks!

Finally got a working english version of Kingdom Hearts 2! Whooooopie!!! Gawd it is such a good game. I hope this one surpasses the fun of the first one! My sister nad I are watching the Hills Have Eyes with Isha and her brothers tomorrow. Here's hoping its worth a few screams! At least the tickets were free. And sadly, delayed ang Silent Hill again. Waaah. I hope its cause they want it to be released nicely and not due to stupid reshooting and editting to make it more palatable to a non-mature audience. The website has a new intro, which is pretty nice. I really love their loading graphic.

LASTLY,
I love you so much Isha.
I love you more than I ever loved anyone before.
